camping in/near flagstaff
Hey Nesties, I am trying to plan our belated honeymoon to Arizona this summer. For part of our trip we were thinking of camping in or near Flagstaff. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations of places to camp and/or places to stay away from. Any thoughts/ideas are greatly appreciated!
Re: camping in/near flagstaff
Ditto this. A few times every summer we go up and camp at the cinders. Its a total blast - they have the best trails for quads, dirt bikes, etc. This camp site is off of the 89 (north of flag) and I'm pretty sure we always access it by National Forest road 776
If you dont have any atvs then I would suggest somewhere else (because it gets pretty dirty at the cinders) there was this nice place south of Flagstaff on the west side of the 17. You take exit Mountainair Rd and go west towards Kachina Village, but instead of going into the neighborhood you turn left onto National Forest road 237 - right before the gas station.
You can view both of these roads on mapquest if you wanna see where they are!!
HTH!
