Potluck suggestions?

I'm going to a potluck on Saturday and I'm looking for suggestions on what to take.  It's for a group that I'm meeting for the first time, so I have no idea what the "norm" is.  Please share your favorite pot luck dish!

Re: Potluck suggestions?

  • How many do you need it to feed? Do you have a certain area you're supposed to bring (i.e. main dish, salad, etc)? Does it have to travel well or will you be leaving your house and there in five minutes?

Without knowing your parameters, two of my favs are crockpot macaroni and cheese and pulled pork (which you can also take in a crockpot).  Soups are also a great thing to take to these events.

  • One of my fav's to make in the crockpot is Hawaiian Chicken. But I agree, do you have a course your suppose to bring (side dish, main dish....)

  • That's my dilemma - I was told to bring "whatever."  It's fairly close, so it's only a 5 minute drive or so.

I do like the idea of soup, though.  I would never have thought of taking soup!

  • Chili or crackdip is always popular for us to take and easy in the crockpot.

  • Oh yea, crack dip is super good (forgot about that one)! And so is spinach & artichoke dip =)

  •  Cheesy Spinach and Bacon Dip
1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, drained
1 lb.  (16 oz.) VELVEETA Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, cubed
1 can  (10 oz.) RO*TEL Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies, undrained
8 slices OSCAR MAYER Bacon, cooked, crumbled

MICROWAVE ingredients in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 5 min. or until VELVEETA is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after 3 min. I then transfer it to the croc pot to keep warm.

SERVE with tortilla chips and cut-up fresh vegetables.
