BIL bought a house

Well... MIL is slowly kicking all the younger siblings and their SO's out of the house. BIL is going to closing on Friday for his (little) house. I'm so excited to go check it out this weekend when we go visit the QC. I think he only has one truck load (as in, Dodge Ram truck load) of stuff to move in. Part of me thinks he is crazy to buy a house, but he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Plus MIL is now charging rent to anyone not attending college FT (which is only my SIL)... so everyone has moved "out" except the SIL. She put up with too many people mooching off her for too long. [Although I do enjoy some home cooked meals when I visit... but I don't quite consider that mooching.] I'm sure SIL will move out w/in 3 months of graduating though.

Then we have to rush back home for SUPER BOWL SUNDAY. Asian theme party... no idea what to make, besides the guys making sushi from scratch. I'm not big into asian food. And something healthy would be great.

What's everyone's plans for the weekend?

Re: BIL bought a house

  • At least your BIL can take advantage of the First Time Homebuyer's Credit, right?

No big plans for the weekend.  Just relaxing at home with the family.

  • True! Plus DH and I can start sleeping in his old room again (more privacy)... it used to be DH's room before he moved out.
  • Good for your MIL for charging rent!  I think my parents should do that.  My almost 21 year old brother lives at home, isn't going to school, works maybe 20 hours a week, and drives my parents' car. If it were up to my dad, he'd be paying or move.  My mom has always babied him, though.
