Blegh Hersheys!!
My Whole Foods sells this -- http://www.holykakow.com/-- but its a local/regional product so I'm not sure if all do. Its all organic and fair trade, a really conscientious company.
Yum! I'm going to try this!
Ah!laska is too sticky and viscous.
Santa Cruz doesn't taste good.
Those are the two brands I've tried off the top of my head, but I've been trying for two years. One thing that I just realized is that I haven't checked Trader Joe's. I'll do that as soon as I'm out of the Ah!Laska.
*squeeeee!* I just saw that at Whole Foods on Sunday when I was picking up stuff for a GTG. I'll try that next, and then the Midnight Moo? from TJs!
I agree.
We don't have either of those stores within a 1.5 hour drive of us, do you have a Fresh Market nearby though? I read in their newest magazine that they have come up with a FM brand that is supposedly "better sourced" than traditional chocolate toppings. Not sure if that's true or not, nor have I have read the label or tasted it, but I just read about it last night, so it might be worth a shot.
I make my own. The recipe I use is at home, but similar to this. Store in the fridge.
Fudge Sauce Recipe
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine the cocoa, sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan. Gradually add water and stir until it is smooth. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture comes to a full boil and thickens. Remove from the heat and add vanilla. Stir to incorporate.
Serve warm.
Makes 1 cup.
This my Grandma's recipe that my Mom just e-mailed me. I know, I know. It's got a ton of corn syrup in it. But it's delicious, and if you boil it for a few minutes it will get all chewy when it hits the ice cream. I usually just heat it through the first time, and take it off before it boils. And then over the next few nights as I finish it off, it gets progressively more chewy. : )
2 cups corn syrup
6 tablespoons cocoa
4 tablespoons margarine or butter
Whisk together, and heat over medium until warm.
This recipe is freaking awesome.
