a post about taking college classes and request for your opinions

Ok so I want to take a basic accounting and individual and/or corporate tax class. I do not need a degree or anything I just want to smarterify myself.

Sooo I call Cuy. Co. Community Kolledge and it is the same price to take the class for credit as it is to audit the class.

I call CSU and its the same deal only more expensive.

I call Remington College and they dont offer piecemeal classes. Its either all or nothing and no auditing.

Any other ideas???

P.S. - I forgot how much college costs and I was horrified. My vision went blurry. I refuse to add onto my student loans. I am looking into scholarships as well.

  • Honestly, I'd look into professional development classes that are geared towards the working person that don't cost a whole heck of a lot.  I'm not sure of your industry, but some continuing education classes might be worth looking into and a little more cost-effective.

In my 'industry' I am required to take continuing education classes. However, I want a whole bunch of knowledge, not a snippet.

  • I know there are a lot of online courses out there... I'm not sure how much they cost, but maybe they'd be cheaper.  University of Phoenix commercials come to mind.  There is another college downtown... I think it used to be called Myers University.  Any chance your work would pay for part of it if it would help you with your job?
