Ok ladies...
Your thoughts on last night 1st episode of the FInal Season.
A couple of questions, why was the water at the Temple bloody when the arrived to save Sayid? Then the moments afterwards where he was lying there? How much time actually passed? Another thing I'm a little confused about is Desmond appearance on the plane?
Re: Let's talk LOST
Of course, yet another episode that really just confused me. If "it worked" which I guess it seems to have - do we have an alternate universe or something going on? how are they still on the island?
I have no idea why Desmond magically appeared b/c right before he did I was thinking...what does this mean? Desmond is stuck on the island but everyone else gets to go back to LA? and then he just disappears again?
as for the water - maybe b/c Jacob was dead?
I also thought maybe the island gave them the things they wanted to happen & then b/c "it worked" those things could come true anyway - Locke meets Jack who thinks nothing is irreversible & can fix his spine; Kate gets away from the agent.
I don't know...as always, grasping at straws.
I'm still processing and haven't had time to form my own theories, but the question I kept asking MH last night was, "Where is Shannon?" Boone was on the plane by himself. He said Shannon wasn't ready to leave her bad relationship yet so he was going back to LA alone.
And are Jack, Kate, Sawyer, etc. still back in the 1970s? Jin said the bright flash was them travelling through time again. Did the hydrogen bomb really detonate or did they time travel before it went off? Aah, I guess we'll be watching it again soon.
And was it just me or were then TONS of commercials last night? It seemed like and endless cycle of 5 minutes of the actual show followed by 5 minutes of commercials.
ETA: One more thing! Why was Jack's neck bleeding in the airplane bathroom?
I was wondering if the angle they are going is that whatever happened on the island would have happened anyway, like Locke being able to walk- magically on the island or by meeting Jack in L.A & getting a successful surgery. Or Kate delivering Claires baby, whether it's on the island or in the taxi cab in L.A.
What up with Jack's missing dad? At my airline, a body being onboard down below is a really big deal. Even WE would never lose a body!!!
also about jack's dad...remember forever ago, he was jacob? in that spooky house...if i remember right where jacob first talked to locke & jabob was jack's dad, not this new young guy.
as always, I have no idea...
I have a theory that Jacob is now in Sayid's body.
As for the abundance of commercials...I highly recommend tivo/dvr. Let it run for about 20 mins and then start watching it. That way you can fast forward thru a good amount of commercials.
That's a good theory
And what's going on with this whole 2nd thread story of them not crashing and landing in LAX. Is it supposed to be an alternate reality or is one of the threads really happening and one of them not. Or do they have two copies of themselves? Is the entire rest of the season going to continue with these 2 threads now or are they going to converge at some point? I think I have more questions than theories. I just want to see where they're going with this all =P
When we were watching the part where they brought Sayid to the temple, John said, 'I think Jacob is going to be reincarnated into Sayid's body.' I started to think about this more and more after the episode ended and I think it's very likely. The Man in Black has taken different forms (original Man in Black, the Smoke Monster, and new Locke) so why can't Jacob? I thought for sure that they'd bring Juliet to the temple and save her too. I wonder if this is the end for her character? I didn't like her much at first but I was sad to see her die.
Also, I was thinking about Juliet's last words to Sawyer, 'It worked,' and think that she was experiencing a similar kind of flash sideways like the one they showed of Jack. It seemed to me like Jack sort of recognized everyone on the flight to LA that never crashes. I don't know how he got that cut on his neck or why Desmond was on the flight, but hey, it's LOST. We'll always have more questions than answers with each new episdoe.
I'm liking Richard's character more and more and can't wait to find out about his time on the island.
And this is something John and I have both commented on in the past but man, it doesn't seem like much of the budget goes into CG. Some of their 'special effects' have been the cheesiest we've ever seen. We turned and looked at each other at the same time when they showed the island underwater. I think we made the same icky face and then laughed because we both thought it was soooo badly done.
We DVR'd it and started watching about 20 minutes after it started airing so we got to fast forward through most of the commercials. This was probably one of the most anticipated season premieres so I can see why tons of advertisers would want to buy airtime. I wonder how much 30-sec spots were going for....
