Survey Says: Moms Say Affairs Make Them Late for School

A survey of 2,000 women by WinMonkey, a UK online games site, found that 50 percent of moms are late to pick up their kids from school because they got tied up at work.

One in five say they were tied up at home.  Literally.

Nineteen percent of mothers polled said that they?ve been late for after school pick-up because they used school hours for having an extramarital affair.

Suddenly, my life looks a lot less interesting.  But that mom who arrives at the last minute, breathless and sweating?  Her life on the other hand?.

Most moms blamed work or traffic for their tardiness, while others said they?d been late because they wanted to finish watching a TV show or bid on an online auction(!!!).  And a third of moms admitted to being late in the past because they were drinking with friends.

No one admitted to being late because they?d been watching their stove clock, which was actually in ?timer? mode and therefore not the actual time.  No one admitted to being late in dropping their kids off to school because they?d set their alarm to p.m. instead of a.m.  And no one admitted to showing up late because they?d suddenly realized it was 3 o?clock and they were still in their pajamas, and so had to scramble to get dressed.

Ahem.  Not that I know anyone who?s done those things.

Obviously, this survey isn?t even remotely reliable, but there were 400 moms out there happy to admit that they weren?t home watching soap operas ? they were living them.  Interesting.

So ? if you?ve been late for after-school pick up ? what?s your excuse?

H and I were just discussing this yesterday. He (jokingly) said something about me having a boyfriend, and I responded that I have three kidless hours to fill every day. Never mind that he gets home in the middle of those hours: he'd just think I was shopping.

And on that note, I went shopping. (Lane Bryant was having a sale!)
