Help please! Dropped my iphone in a....

crockpot of chicken tortilla soup & then burnt my fingers trying to get it out.

It had on it's silicon case & Screen cover. It was still on when I pulled it out. It seems to be ok except for I can't hear calls unless on speaker phone.

I took the SIM card out & it's currently in a bag of rice (per websites online)...

any other ideas?

  • All I've heard is to immediately remove the SIM card and try to dry out the phone. I've also heard that apple really doesn't care how a phone or computer breaks and might replace it for you, even with a few white lies. I had a friend who spilled coffee all over a keyboard, and they still replaced for him, clearly knowing it was his own fault.

  • I've heard you could use rubbing alcohol to help any liquid evaporate quicker. But other than that I was going to suggest rice... which you're already doing.

Not sure about that one. A co-worker recently took his Macbook Pro in for repair after it died and it was still under warranty but they said they detected moisture in it and wouldn't fix it for free. And he hadn't even spilled anything on it.

  • sorry about that dear. I know what worked for my son when he dropped his in the beach waters last year. You are not suppose to turn it on, Put it directly in a bag of uncooked rice. Hard to believe but it sucks up the moisture. Leave it off for two days until it is perfectly dry THEN turn it on. It normally works perfectly or at least it did for my son's phone. We were told under no circumstances do you turn on the phone before it completely dries.

  • I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions, but I sure hope your hand is feeling ok!

  • if the liquid sensors are tripped they wont replace it for free. but i would still take it in and see just make sure it does not sell like chicken..hehe then they might know :)
  • My son (ok, me) dropped mine in the toilet today.  DH was out of town and I have no other way to communicate, so I went to the apple store nearly in tears.  they replaced it for me for free.  If the rice doesn't work, try to be really sympathetic.
