P-C-O-S

So... I've kinda fallen off the planet the last few days.  Monday we got our labs back- and everything was normal, which sent me into a downward spiral (since it didnt give us any answers).  Today, I met with a new doctor who is pretty certain I have PCOS (we'll test on my next cycle for sure).

Since I'm still recovering from knee surgery and we cant really try to conceive right now, I'm going back on BCP to try to drop the 30lbs I gained from going off of it.  Once we're ready to jump into it, my Dr. said we'll jump right into clomid...

I'm trying to stay positive, but everytime I talk about it, I cry- even now writing this I get teary eyed.

My doctor is very positive and feels this will be easy to overcome and we'll be able to get pregnant relatively easily- I'm really trying to believe her :(

2010 is shaping itself into a funky year isn't it?!  I know it's all going to work out for you--it's just so hard to be patient!  I'm so glad she gave you a plan to follow!

  • Hey - just wanted to say good luck, and stay strong. PCOS is more common than you think - there are plenty of ladies on thebump that have been very sucessfull in the first few rounds of clomid!!!!

  • Hi,

I just wanted to say I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. But you're doing all the right things and everything in your power to figure out your next steps toward a healthy pregnancy. That's really all you can do. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

  • I am sorry that you are going through this.  I have faith the the next steps you are taking are the right ones and you will one day have a healthy pregnancy and a wonderful happy and healthy bundle of joy.  I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm sorry, Jenn.  I know it wasn't the results you were wishing to hear.  I'm sure it'll all work out, and you & A will be the awesome parents you so desire to be!  You're in my thoughts & prayers.

  • My doctor last year thought I had it too, so when DH and I started trying in May, I charted to see if I could pinpoint ovulation. I went in and had some tests done with my new doctor. During that time I did a lot of reading on it and preparing for that outcome. There really are so many people that have it. On the infertility board on the bump they have kind of a PCOS support group with check ins and everything. I'm sure the ladies there can be a great support group, they were for me before my results came back negative.

    Good luck!

  • Try not to let it get you down.  A lot of women have PCOS and still get pregnant without problems.  If you need to talk let me know, I was dx with PCOS when I was 16 and have done IF treatments so I can very much relate to what you are feeling.

  • Jenn I'm sorry you are going through this! But i'm glad the doc has a plan.

Is the doc recommending you go back on BC?sometimes it's better to be off of it for a bit to geve your body some time to "regulate" and then perhaps when you start the clomid you will have an easier time?

    Good luck!

  • Thanks everyone- I'm feeling much better about it.  DH and I had a long conversation and we both know that when the right soul for our family is ready to join us- they will.  We trust in God's plan... I just needed to sort out my emotions to come back to knowing what I already knew.

    I appreciate everyone's support!

Christina- I did go off of BCP for about 7 months, but in that 7 months, never ovulated and after talking with the OBGYN with the PCOS it's not likely I will.  So because of that we decided to go back on BCP (we can't get pregnant until my knee heals- and I hate dealing with the acne) and then we'll go back off.  I did opt for a lower dosed BCP this time.  Thanks for the suggestion though =)

  • There is an AZ meetup group for PCOS http://pcos.meetup.com/217/ that I have joined and plan to start going to.  The ladies seem like a good group.
