f/u Samsung Reclaim

Admittedly I've only had it an hour, but I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!  First of all, I love that it's as eco-friendly as you can get with a cell phone right now.  It also came in a recyclable box with no plastic on it.  Very simple and I actually really like it.  They should just make ALL of their boxes like that.

But the phone itself is really nice!  The browser is fast and the pictures even in the dark come out nice.  It has video and GPS and everything my old phone had but it seems to go much faster on this phone.  Probably because I haven't bogged it down with tons of pictures of my dog yet.  :)

I'll report back in a week or two and let you know how I'm liking it then.  But thus far the report is good!

  • Good to know thank you for the review thus far!  I'm due for a new phone in March so I'll keep this one in mind.  I wonder if Verizon carries it!

  • I love the idea, but I wanted a droid phone. Considering I don't upgrade often and will recycle, I don't feel too guilty about it! I commented on the Reclaim at the store and how cool the recycled aspect was, and that they should have a droid with recycled aspects, but they said right now the technology wouldn't work. The droid and similar phones have to have more metal-like outsides because of the screens, or something like that.

  • Is the Droid similar to the Instinct?  If so, I really loved my Instinct but it was the hardest phone to keep in decent condition!  I recommend getting a case that raises itself slightly higher then the screen.  Because, at least on the Instinct, the screen is on the same level as the rest of the phone so if you drop it, that's what get's damaged.  DH's Instinct has 5 little cracks in it that are slowly growing together.  All from ONE drop onto a hardwood floor.

I really think the best way to be "Green" with your cell phone is to just get one you will use for a long time.  So when you upgrade, go as high as you can on your upgrade and then use it for a few years and do everything you can to extend it's longevity.

  • Well there's Droid, and then there are droid phones. Droid is the Motorola Droid, their version of a droid phone. That's short for android and just means it runs the android google operating system.

I think yes, style-wise they may be similar, but mines pretty sturdy. I have a very good screen protector on it and I've dropped it a few times already. I have the HTC Hero. I haven't gotten a case yet, but intend to...

Apparently Google's nexus phone will be covered by Verizon in Spring of 2010.
