Sushi question

Since I was unable to get sushi last night, M is taking me out for it tonight.

Now while I have had it many times before, I usually stay in my "safe" zone and order Cali rolls and salmon only.

I have tried a few others, but the texture gets to me.

I would love to "broaden my horizons" and would love to know, for those of you who eat it, what else is yummy and should I try?

If you are a little raw fish timid I suggest shrimp tempura rolls, if you can get them with eel sauce, even better (eel sauce is really sweet).  If you are able to step out of the comfort zone a little more, I love ahi, its my fav.  Try getting a roll with cucumber along with the raw fish if you can, it adds a little texture so what you are eating doesn't seem so "raw".

Does the place you are going have an online menu?  Maybe we can help you make some decisions off of that.  If you like cucumber, any kind of Naruto would be good.  I like crunchy dynamite rolls for the spiciness but they usually dont have much in them.....My favorite here is a Thompson roll that has tuna, avacado, cucumber and toped with crab.

I'm a big shrimp fan so I love the shrimp tempura (same thing missdanib suggested).  Or any spicy tuna roll is yummy too.  Now you've got me craving sushi.

From this menu the Spicy Crunchy tuna sounds AWESOME!  The crunchy tempura flakes will take away from the fish and the spicy mayo is my FAVORITE!!

I usually just get Cali rolls or something with shrimp, salmon, or ahi.  A few years ago we went to a pretty good sushi place and I stepped out of my comfort zone...but I don't remember what all I had!  Oops!

I am not a fish eater, but when we go to Wokcano, there's this roll called the Golden Triangle that is so yummy.  I think it's spicy tuna with avocado, wasabe, asparagus, mint and a tiny tiny bit of spicy caviar.

If I were going I would get the spider or the Peter roll.  They dont have a similar menu to our local place like I was hoping to be able to give you some different suggestions....Spicy Crunchy Tuna sounds good too but they are usually a bit plain for me.

Rainbow roll of caterpillar roll. I'm a nut for anything with avocado. And do sake bombs!

I'm a sushi semi-virgin... wish I knew what all these things are, but I just know to take my soy sauce and mix it with the spicy green paste stuff... and that you're supposed to eat the sushi whole-not really bite it...

or the yo ho selling it to us was just seeing how much food we could put in our mouths... the perv!

yum!  I love ahi tuna!  this is what I would recommend
