Need Help Coordinating Your Wedding?
Hi Ladies,
While I help plan my 2 best friend's weddings, I have realized that I have a passion for weddings. I decided on starting up my own business being a wedding corrdinator to utilize my creativity.
I wanted to get some of your input or any suggestions or thoughts on how to get this started and getting my name out there.
Thanks!
Re: Need Help Coordinating Your Wedding?
I'd start by building a website and than advertising your services at local bridal shows by having a booth. I'd also talk to a few people that are already wedding planners and see what they recommend and find out their stories of how they got started.
Hi and welcome.
I recommend that you go to the knot.com if you haven't already since most folks on the Nest side are done with the wedding planning process. I know a few folks thought they wanted to be wedding planners after planning their own wedding or a a friend's wedding. The reality is that very few will have the resources, time and energy to put into it after their weddings. There is a woman that used to frequent the knot called "theweddingfairy" who claims to be a former wedding planner that may be of assistance to those getting started.
You may also want to be aware that the knot/nest has a policy on advertising services in the community. You may want to consult the community rules for details. I believe that you can advertise your services under the Connecticut section on the knot site. After that, word of mouth from brides who have used your services will likely be a great source of referrals.
Good luck! I know some folks that have made good money doing not only wedding planning, but photography, invitations/save the dates, and specific items (e.g., monogrammed aisle runners) and have made successful businesses.
Hi and thank you!
Yes, I have checked out the knot.com. I decided to post on this board to get some suggestions for those who have already done the wedding process and what their thoughts of needing a wedding coordinator. One of my best friend's sister is a wedding coordinator and gave me the heads up that it is a lot of work and it's not always what people make it out to be.
I wouldn't advertise my services until I know for sure that this is the road I'd like to travel down, and of course would research rules and regulations.
My friend suggested maybe doing the side things of a wedding, like putting together favors, etc. So there is the thought there as well.
Thanks for your advice! I do appreciate it!
