Katie just sent a suggestion to my facebook for organ donors that made me remember that I meant to update you guys about some things.
My cousin M is still doing pretty badly and has been in and out of Hopkins for the last few weeks. They have decided to go with the chemo and are doing a little bit of a different procedure where they are injecting it straight into the liver. A little experimental but they are hoping that it will work and there is a small possiblity that she can get back on the transplant list if it does. This is good news. Small steps but very good news.
Amy had to move back home to Arkansas at the beginning of the year but came to visit last week. She is doing great and has an adorable pixie cut now that her hair is growing back. She is still a little weak and very underweight right now but that is to be expected. Overall her progress is amazing and she is very happy with the way things are going.
Coworkers daughter L went back to St. Jude this week to finish out her treatment. She was up here one day to visit and is absolutley a firecracker full of spirit. Children have such a way to accept things so easily and go on without any worries. It warms my heart. She told me that she wished she could just play all day but she had homework and that was a "big bummer". So cute. They will be in Memphis through May and hope to return home with great strides towards L's full recovery.
Your thoughts and prayers are always so very appreciated as I think we have learned by now that these Novembie vibes are one heck of a powerful force.
Re: Updates.....
This! Also, its amazing how children can adjust isn't it? When I worked at the hospital I saw it all the time with the oncology peds unit (we were small so we only got the "light" cases) and they just smile and keep on playing. A lot of them would tell me later "I am worried about my mom/dad/sister/brother!"
Agreed and some more T&P!!!
This.
