I had my Lasik done at the Duke Center for Vision Correction (The Duke Eye Center I think they call it now) on Erwin Rd in Durham. Dr. Terry Kim did my surgery, however, I can also recommend Dr. Carlson as he did both of my in-law's Lasik.

I went in for their seminar on night during the week and at the seminar scheduled an appt to see if I was a candidate the next week. Two weeks later I had the Lasik done. The basically put me in an exam room and gave me a valium then let me sit there for like 30 minute till in kicked in, then they walked me to the surgery room, put numbing drops in my eyes and went to work. It took like less than 5 seconds or something an eye it was crazy. I could see the clock on the wall as soon as I sat up!

You have free follow up for a year which is great. I didn't have any problems with dry eye after the procedure but some people do, you just use drops for a while, its a side effect that generally passes from what I understand.

Like I said in the other post, I had a really great experience with Duke, and one of the reasons I chose to go with them is because it is Duke, not just another eye center or eye Dr. Maybe that's silly but something about Duke's medical reputation just made me feel okay with having my eyes done.

  • Thanks so much!!! I checked online and they are having a seminar here in Cary at the end of the month.  I'll definitely check into it.  I totally understand what you mean about Duke.  My Dad and Step Mom come to Duke for everything.  (they drive over an hour each way)  They don't "trust" the doctors in their town.
