Anniversary Dinner--Wash Cty Area

We want to go out to dinner for our first wedding anniversary on Aug 18th. We don't have time to drive back downtown after I get home from work, so we're trying to come up with a place in the Germantown/MF/Richfield/West Bend-ish area. We're doing a celebratory weekend getaway in Sept, too. Dinner doesn't have to be super high-end or expensive. We would like a nice setting, good food (basic steak/seafood/chicken type place), relaxation, and just to spend some time together. Any suggestions? Has anyone been to Meredith's at the old Timmer's resort?

Re: Anniversary Dinner--Wash Cty Area

  • The nice resturants I can think of in those areas are a little more pricey, but well worth the food and atmosphere in my opinion.  Of of Pleasant Valley Road near West Bend is the Jailhouse Resturant.  It has a variety of delicous food and a nice atmosphere.  My cousin also owns a new resturant in downtown West Bend called Cafe Sourette with various french inspired dishes.  It is a little more expensive ($20 per plate), but again a quiet place to eat and something a little different on the dinner menu.  She is my cousin, but just had a two page spread written about her resturant in the Daily News so I'm not just bragging about her (well maybe a little..lol).  Hope those two suggestions help.

  • We've been to the Quilted Bear in Germantown. They have really good food and decent prices.
  • If you want something with good food, but a little casual, you can try Wegner's Cedar Lake in. Its at the intersection of Hwy K and Hwy 144 right across from Big Cedar Lake (the old Linden Inn). Good food and nice views of the lake.

I also second The Jailhouse. Quilted Bear has good food, but I prefer them for brunch.
