Wine

We are having some friends over tomorrow night and Surprise I'm not a big wine drinker but I'd like to have a bottle of white. I know everyone has their preferences but what is a good "middle ground" wine (since I'm not sure what kind they prefer) or is there such a thing?? Thanks Ladies!

Re: Wine

  • Kendal Jackson is a great Chardonnay and is usually price $8 - $12 a bottle.

If you are looking for a "middle ground" wine, get the Vintners Reserve.  The Grand Reserve is more dry.

    Good luck and enjoy.

  • Wine has been a slowly acquired taste for me, so the ones that I like I would assume are kind of middle-ground, not too strong tasting. The ones that I have recently tried and like are one by Middle Sister called "Smarty Pants" (white, it's a chardonnay) and Yellow Tail's Cabernet Sauvignon (red). I guess I'd pick which (white or red) based on your menu.
  • I prefer riesling or pinot grigio but will drink chardonnay.

Some good NC wines include Biltmore Estate, Shelton Vineyards and Westbend.

We also like Kris pinot grigio and Santa Margherita pinot grigio .

  • I love wine.  Its like the best thing.  Ever.

Do you have a Trader Joes?  I would suggest going there and getting some of their wines.  BlueFin is one of the ones I like as well as the Charles Shaw - like $2.99 a bottle.  YESSSS.

Since I do not have a TJ's I usually buy Alice White Chardonnay or Yellow Tail Chardonnay.  Those are two of my favorites.  The small bottles run $6 - 7, the larger bottles $8 - $12 depending on where you go.

  • We served Mendoza Station Torrontes (chilean white) at our wedding.  It's $5.99 a bottle, and like I've said here before, my DH is a wine snob & he approved it!
  • Clos du Bois Chardonnay is heavenly - $10.99/bottle or Purple Moon Chardonnay (only found it at Trader Joe's) is $3.99/bottle *I think*

I think Chardonnay is a great choice of wine for serving if you aren't sure what they like.  Pretty much anyone can drink (and enjoy) Chardonnay, I think.

  • Our Super Target carries boxed wine that is fabulous.  I strongly recommend the sangria (white or red) and their "house" blends.  The red is one of my favorites and the white a good standard to have.

Otherwise I strongly agree with the TJ's rec's.  They carry amazing wine at great prices.
