Valentine's Day

Re: Valentine's Day

  • Trying to plan a nice dinner out. I am in charge of plans this time.  How about all of you?
  • Our best friends who used to live in the area are flying in for the weekend and staying with us. While it won't be the most romantic Valentine's Day ever, I am pretty excited about our double date to the Melting Pot. And insanely excited to spend time with the two of them.

I'm also thinking of hosting a little valentine's themed 'cupcakes and cocktails' gathering on Saturday night so our group of friends can all get together with the couple flying into town. I should probably get moving on that.

  • We are planning on a nice dinner out, but haven't decided where yet.  We better get on that so we can get a reservation!

  • I haven't really given it much thought (aside from v-day cards to family with the kids pictures!) until this morning.  I tried to make a reservation for brunch but they are all booked :(   So, it'll probably just end up being a semi-regular day.  I might do a nice brunch at home and invite my parent's over, but we'll see.

    Yumm! i'm jealous Big Smile

The last time we ate at the Melting Pot, we decided to start TTC so we're saving our return trip for the celebration of a BFP :)

We went there to celebrate our BFPand the night that we found out our induction date. They have a lunch special at the one by us, so we actually went there a lot while we were on maternity leave. We still go for lunch when Carol is off work ( in fact we went this past Wednesday) We know the owners and they bring out their kids toys for Annie at the table and bring her peeled small chopped apples and extra bread. ( she loves the bread and cheese)

  • Just another day.  We don't like going out to dinner that night (too busy) and neither of us are really into it.  Maybe we'll do chocolate fondue with the kids - they would think they died and went to heaven. :P

  • My birthday and valentine's day are just a few days apart.  I don't know what we're doing for either one.  CT - I like your idea of brunch for Valentine's day, maybe I'll look into that.  We went to the Melting Pot soon after our BFP but not because of it (I don't think....can't remember) but it's on the list of places to possibly go for my birthday this year.

  • Well, V-day is our dating anniversary and 3 days later is our wedding anniversary so we plan on celebrating for 3 days. Not to mention MARDI GRAS is on the 16th, so we plan on doing something in honor of Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday(our anniversary).

Not sure what tho.??? Need to start planning. Quick!!

  • I'm not sure. I kind of suck at these things but sicne it is a sunday maybe we'll do somethign ;)
  • I'm not sure yet.  I will probably end up making a special dinner and treats for the four of us.  After the girls  are asleep maybe I'll do chocolate fondue for S.

  • We have a yearly tradition of Valentine's dinner at Ruth's Chris so we'll be doing dinner there and staying at a nice hotel that we've wanted to check out for a while. During the day we will probably go see the movie "Valentine's Day". I love Valentine's Day I think it might just be my favorite holiday so of course I can't wait.

  • Today we bought DD her Valentine's gifts...  A unicorn (stuffed animal, not real...duh), a tiny box of chocolates, a pink fedora, and a card.

I'm not really a Valentine's person so DW and I never celebrate it but this year we are going to.  I think I am going to get her a Dodger's BBQ set and make breakfast for DW and DD.

  • this year we have tickets to a hockey game, so her sister and sister's gf will be coming over to spend the evening with the baby while we go. i like valentine's day, but they aren't big on it so it's a perfect arrangement. we get to go out and they get to spend some time with him. :-D
  • We're going to Annapolis for the weekend. E's always wanted to visit and we've never made it there. Valentine's Day was my second favorite holiday (after Christmas) as a kid. My love for it has waned a bit in last several years but I'm still a fan. It's typically right before a busy period at work so we like to take a mini-vacation and have some couple time before I disappear for a month.
  • Jen always makes me dinner on Valentine's Day, pretty much the only day of the year she cooks. But this year I am going to Maine for the weekend to visit a friend. I have President's Day off but Jen's company is open, and she's working on Valentine's Day too, so there was really no reason for me not to go away that weekend. We're hoping that her job will settle down in March, we are both tired of her working every weekend.

The 10th anniversary of our first date (OMG) is on Feb 12th, so we're having dinner at Restaurant Eve to celebrate that and Valentine's Day together. I ordered an orchid to be delivered to her office on the 12th, and bought her the third and fourth Buffy Season 8 comic books. She's not sentimental and she'll love it :)
