Charting and Technology

Hi all

I'm just starting my first cycle of FAM for TTA. I'm wondering what means you all use for charting? I got in as a BETA tester for the tcoyf web-based software, I have a FertilityFriend account, and I have the paper charts. Which method would you recommend?? I'm not opposed to paying for FF if its reliable, but the tcoyf one seems great too...

Re: Charting and Technology

  • You can do the free version of Fertility Friend.
  • The ladies on the Getting Pregnant board will be lots of help for you as well! GL!
  • graph paper and a pencil on my nightstand. i find it much faster than having to log into an online service.

  • For TTA, the tcoyf software is better. I have the software on my machine for the past 5+ years and so worth it to me.

  • For TTA, I personally wouldn't use Fertility Friend.  I use paper charts (simpler and quicker, IMO), and it's happened more than once that when I put data into Fertility Friend, FF "disagrees" with the NFP rules I learned... That might be ok if you're TTC and BD'ing every day or every other day anyway, but when you're TTA, you want to follow the rules as closely as possible.

I have heard that TCOYF's software is good, but I haven't tried it myself.

  • I use the charts from CCL. They come with 24 bound like a calendar, so I just keep them hung up on the wall in the bathroom. That way I see it when I'm in there and don't forget to check for CM and cervix position.

Me too.  I don't have any desire to go online with it.  I try to keep it simple so I just write everything down right after I take my temp.

  • I'm TTA too. My first 3 months paper only, this month I'm using FF too to see what I think. I plan on always paper charting because it's easier to circle my temp first thing in the morning and not have to remember anything.

I am experiencing that FF is a little different from what I can decipher on my paper chart using the rules in TCOYF, but it still predicts my menses quite well, so it's not too far off.

Long story short, I plan on doing both.
