So, Desmond and I went on our big shopping excursion this afternoon.
Apparently I am between sizes on pants, shirts, and shoes. It was teh suck. I went to LB and fell in love with their stretch trouser jean even though it had a little bit of extra fabric in the back of the waist. But they were $54, and by the time I need them in 3 weeks, they probably won't fit anymore.
Then I went to NY&Co and tried on their "straight leg" jean. Stacey and Clinton are forever telling people to wear a straight leg, right? Well, I think perhaps something is wrong, because these all look like crap on me. Pics:
Then I wonder if flares or bootcuts would look even worse. Thoughts/adviSe?
Anyway. After that, I went to Sears to get some cool peeptoe heels that I saw in the ad. another fail. Turns out they had like 4" heels and, like I said, I am between sizes. I did find some shoes for H for work that he will probably find some reason I have to return them.
So yep. nearly 3 hours of shopping and I spent $110 on shoes for H and $7.50 on lunch at chick-fil-a.
More shopping fail in another post. (Yes, I'm a PW this afternoon.)
Re: Shopping FAIL (+ need adviSe)
go with sweatpants.
i am joking about the sweatpants.
but really, don't be shocked if you have to have the jeans tailored. i haven't been able to buy jeans and wear them off the rack for years. every pair i own i had to bring to get tailored for one reason or another.
Sorry; I have to buy all my jeans online. They don't carry my size in any store anywhere ever.
I am anti store-branded jeans. I've tried NY&Co, Anne Taylor, and Express and none of them fit right.
If you're looking for something cheap while you're between sizes, I used to get Sevens and Luckys for around $30 a pair at Filene's Basement. I think Loehman's also carries designer jeans. Usually they have some dumb superficial flaw, but the fit is still wonderful.
Crap...I Mean Crafts
What about something like this?
duckis, I usually go to tj maxx or marshalls for jeans. I'm just sortof in this weird place where nothing fits right, but my body is still changing a lot so I don't want to invest too much in the clothes or the tailoring.
OH - I forgot the rest of the fail. I have a dillard's store credit that's been burning a hole in my pocket for FOUR YEARS. Tried to use it today and couldn't find anything to spend it on. I couldn't even find shoes at payless to buy. It was a sucky shopping trip, fo sho.
what are those, nola?
the first looks like the $54 trouser jean i loved... is the 2nd bootcut?
They're both from Target.

i bought two pairs of jeans for $14 apiece at Daffy's. i don't know the designer, but they fit pretty well and the cost justified spending $10 each on tailoring.
definitely check out all of the TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Century 21 type stores for clearance jeans. i'm wearing mine now, and i feel really good about them.
and beacuse i hate my bodyshape these days (and expect it to change again and again), i am okay with spending $25 a pair of jeans which fit really well.
Did you try on any of the right-fit jeans at LB? They solve the gapping waist gapping problem.
But ditto the clearance shops. I wouldn't invest in jeans that you won't be able to wear very long.
I just a friendly gal looking for options.
Did try the right fit jeans at LB. They pretty much looked the same as the ones in the pic. The trouser jean were also "right fit," but it was weird. When I was standing, there was this sortof pouch of fabric in the back - the waist fit fine, then there was this poof of extra stuff, then the butt fit fine. When I sat down, it kindof smoothed out and looked better.
We'll see. I have one pair of passable jeans at the moment. I guess I'll have to go shopping again right before I go back to work and actually buy something that time.
