Sweet mother of all that is holy - I knew the ILs were finally getting the internet for the first time in their lives last week, but I never guessed that MIL would discover Facebook so quickly. I have a friend request from her. EFFFFFF.

*sigh* I can't not add her (just trust me on this one) so it looks like I'll be adding her on under a limited profile...

No-no. Do not add her... there is not enough to limit. Ignore her. If she dares say anything (and from what you said, she will), just say it is something you set up a long time ago. Now that you are busy with your H (her lil darlin) and preparing for babies, you never NEVER get on FB.

haha. MIL is also on FB. I added her but didn't give access to my status updates. i like my MIL but just don't want her to know what we do every second lol. i waited for her to add me so i can change the privacy settings right away :-).

This already crossed my mind...if only it would work...I'm friends with both her daughters, one of whom did the "recommend friends for MIL!" thing, which is why I have a friend request from MIL. She'd know I was lying.

Haha. I'm friends with my MIL and my MIL's friend (DH's friend's mom) and my SIL and DH's uncle and DH's two cousins... Harmless! But then your MIL sounds very different.....

Bummer! Yeah, I think you'd have no choice but to add her, but I'd definitely keep her on a limited view list. My work recently asked everyone to join the company's fan page, which made me cringe a little, but since we're so inactive on FB (MH and I have a joint acct cuz I never wanted one so I just added my name to his when we got married), I guess it doesn't really matter =P

It's in the Settings --> Privacy Settings area...I haven't done it in a while and I think they've changed exactly how you set it up, but if you go into that section you can assign people to a group to limit how much they see.

Tee hee. My FIL is on there and always asks J why he cannot see my pics...um...because we're not FB friends.  I told J he'll need to upload the pics for his dad to see because there's now way I will be FB friends with him...he won't even talk to me IRL and I haven't heard an apology for his shenanigans that went down, oh about 4 years ago now.  No thanks.
