Happy Monday

So what's up ladies?  I've been (and will be) slightly MIA as I was at home for 3 days last week (you'd think I'd nest more from home) and have a major event this Sunday.  So before my week gets totally crazy, I just wanted to say hi.

My 5 day weekend was actually nice.  Once I stopped worrying about all the work stuff I wasn't getting done, I was able to catch up on a bunch of house projects.  I finally filed a bunch of paperwork, bought airfare home, hung a new light fixture, and did some major spring cleaning.  The 5 day break was also a great time for me to reflect on my current job and what I want/need in the future.  I love the agency I work for, but if I'm going to keep hitting walls that I can't climb over then I'll need to move on. However, I am going to do my best to climb over those walls (or at least around) and make this job work for me.

Well I better get back to work.  What's everyone else up to?

Re: Happy Monday

  • Janet, glad to hear your time off turned out to be positive and that you gained some new perspective :-)

This weekend we finally finished our summer clothes shopping (now that summer's half over!).  It felt amazing to not be going anywhere or visiting anyone or packing suitcases for once!!  It was just the two of us, hanging out, doing some shopping and relaxing.

We also went to see Melissa Etheridge on Sat night (we've been so busy, we kept forgetting we had the tickets - luckily, we remembered again on Friday!), which was fun and Melissa was great - but I have never seen so many TRASHED and RUDE lesbians in my life.  It was craaaazy!

On Saturday, our couch was delivered, but wouldn't fit in our stairwell!!!  So now we are waiting for a reschedule for some movers to redeliver it by hoisting it onto our landlord's front porch and try to get it in that way. Oy.

  • The weekend was waaaay to short. J, I too am glad your break turned out to benifit you.

This weekend I did some preliminary car shopping, and I have fallen in love with the new Scion xb. The gas mileage is great, and it's super fun to drive. So we'll see what happens.

We then went to TGIF, and Julie got some awful food poisoning. So I spent the rest of the night taking care of her.

Sunday, was truely wedding related, I am wrapping up loose ends, because August 8th, is close VERY close.

  • pretty decent weekend here in CT. It began with a lot of baby holding, coooing, kissing, and snuggling - our friend's baby is now 3 1/2 weeks old and i adore him to pieces.  i love, love, love having a baby to hold as much as i want :)
Saturday morning we joined friends for our town's fair, a farmer's market, and blueberry picking.  Then we went to a party at another friend's house and topped off the evening with fireworks.
Sunday was wedding errands w/ my parents, visiting Nana (she's been moved to a nursing home), and cleaning up the old apartment.
Yeah, gotta say holding baby Liam was the best part!
  • This weekend was kind of a bust for us. We got into an arguement that just kind of stayed around the whole weekend. We did watch some movies though and we went out to dinner on Saturday so it wasn't a total waste. This tww is driving me nuts and I think that's half of the reason we argued. I didn't feel like she was as excited as she was when we first had our iui. I know it's a stupid reason to argue and waste a weekend but we talked and things are better today. Tomorrow is back to work for me. Testing on Thursday although I already have a feeling we didn't have beginner's luck. Oh well we'll be trying again in September. It's too expensive per cycle to try every month.

  • hi! :-D

we went on an annual camping trip this weekend, and it was great fun as usual. we left on friday afternoon and spent all day saturday on the river. it was hot and humid, so we stopped a few times to swim and play around. we got home yesterday afternoon and took a four hour nap because we were so exhausted. we did get the kayaks off the top of the element and the cooler inside, but we'll be getting everything else tonight.

i got asked to be in a short two-person play that's part of a late-night thing with two other pieces. it's probably only about ten minutes long and runs for two fridays in early august. i used to be in shows constantly and now it only happens when someone contacts me, so it should be fun, but rehearsal starts tonight and i have so much homework to do and an exam to study for so i'm a bit stressed. i need more time in the day.
  • We had a mellow weekend. We had errands to run but we did make some time to see Mamma Mia! A must see. It just makes you happy, an instant mood lifter.
  • We got through our usual 'round-the-house chores... Well, except for the lawn mowing. I was finished with the front and about halfway through mowing the back when Sylvia came outside and said she missed me and would I please come back inside. It was so sweet I couldn't say no. I went inside and (after a quick shower) made rice krispy treats. We went into the guestroom (the only bedroom with AC) and watched TV and napped and chatted. It was fun, playing hooky from our "to do" list.

Oh, yeah, and the attic is officially full. I need to do some serious decluttering up there. It's 8 years of "maybe we'll use this again some day" and "I don't have time to sort through these papers right now". Awful.
