Weekend Recap?

This was one of those mondays where i was actually glad to be going back to work! This weekend (in no particular order) I:

1) broke my camera
2) sliced off an entire finger nail on my left hand
3) scorched my brand new perfect countertops
4) fought with my printer for hours trying to print programs (still to no avail)
5) dropped a frame and had glass fragments everywhere, including in poor lilly's paw

please tell me your weekend was better than mine!

Re: Weekend Recap?

  • Oh my gosh Elise, how terrible!  Is Lilly okay?  Are you

My weekend was pretty uneventful, as they usually are.  We cleaned a lot.  My friend came over with her 11 mo. old, it made me both happy and sad.  You know how that goes.  Eh.  Back to work.  Oh!  Our wedding pictures were blogged, that was excellent :)
  • Aww, I'm sorry you had such a tough weekend! How did you slice off an entire finger nail? Hopefully you didn't lose finger with it?!

Our weekend was busy, but good. The biggest thing on Saturday was that I walked 10 miles. Unfortunately that night I got a killer headache and was in bed at 9. Sunday we got to see the Dalai Lama talk, which was amazing! What an experience.

  • No worries, both lilly and I are recovering. I was chopping cilantro and caught my finger. luckily i only got through the nail before dropping the knife (and screaming, ect). definitely the worst pain of my life! the finger bed w/ no nail to protect it is not a pretty place. the unfortunate thing is that its unlikely it will fully heal and grow back for the wedding :(  i'm so mad at myself b/c i do a lot of cooking and have for years w/ no casualties. why now?

mandy: i posted over on the knot, but your pics were absolutely amazing!

meegs: you heard the dalai lama speak?? how awesome!
  • Elise, sorry to hear about your weekend.

Mandy, can't wait to catch up on everything and see the pictures.

My weekend was spent in Chicago with a ton of cool people.  I absolutely adore the other event planners I got to spend time with.  The boys kept me out in Boys Town until 4am dancing our a$$es off which was sooo needed.  I fell in love with Chicago and would definitely encourage K to apply there for jobs if it wasn't for their winters.  There is no way I would survive winters there.

Now I'm half asleep and exhausted but happy to be home with K.

  • Mine was good untill I heard from my  FMIL!

We sent out invites over a month ago, and we asked our parents for their guest lists in December, and then here 25 days untill the wedding she FINALLY Email's Julie a list of 35 people, she says here are people that still need invites, and I trust you'll get them out soon. She goes further to says I wouldn't worry about the place being crowded, or people not having room to sit. People mingle anyways!

I was soooooooooooo mad, and I am still p.o'd. I told julie to call her mom, and tell her no way, J did and her mom threw a fit. Why can't my family be in on the gig.

Seriously, these are here 35 VERY distance relatives, and AA group! Give me a break!

I need a coffee...  she's emailing me again.

Other than that the weekend was GREAT! I got the seating chart done, the table names, the programs! It was fantastic, E, I am sorry bout your programs. I would take them to Kinko's and have them print them for you. That way you get what you want and you don't have to worry about hruting your little finger.

  • Elise - what a mess! I hope that finger heals fast!

Our weekend was a bit of a whirlwind...

We flew Fri night to Richmond, VA and checked in at our hotel - which ended up being dirty and horrible (an angry letter will be sent!!!).  Next morning, got out of that dump as soon as possible and had a big breakfast at the Waffle House (yum and cheap!) where our waitress's name was "Mama." 1.5 hour drive to Charlottesville. Napped at much nicer new hotel.  Drove 20 minutes out to backyard bbq/wedding celebration for friend.  Got to see other friends.  It was really hot. Left feeling tired and sticky. Showered, out on the town with friends - had fun. Back to hotel, crashed. Got up, room service, shower&dress, 1.5 hour drive back to airport. Horrible lunch experience (waited 25 minutes for a non-fresh sandwich wrapped in plastic...um, thanks). Flight back to Boston. Nap. Whole Foods. Kathy Griffin on DVR.

Phew!  We did have fun, but man was it crazy!  In excellent news, the Whole Foods near our new apt is super duper nice and even has a cafe counter with gelato!!

  • oh no! i hope your week gets better quickly!

we had a great weekend. we went to my best friend's house for a get together on friday night, and then on saturday we headed up to c's parents' house with our sisters. it was actually a lot of fun and went really well. and we caught our own dinner in their pond, which was awesome. we didn't leave until almost 7 on sunday evening and stopped for dinner on the way back, getting home just in time for c to get ready and leave for work.

oh, and i started a new blog. and made an appointment with the doctor.

  • oh yay! i was wondering how the visit w/ the in-laws went. i'm thrilled to hear it was positive :)
  • yup, the dalai lama! it was so great!

  • Pretty mellow but fun over here.  We had friends over for a bbq friday night which turned into a bit of a drink fest.  I bottle of bombay saphire later we slept till 11.  Then went for a greasy breakfast.  Sunday went to a craft fair in the South End and to brunch at a super yummy french restaurant.  It was very fun and we had a good time.  We also built a new ikea bookcase and moved all the books from the built in shelves in the craft room/spare room/baby room.  The new book nook in the living room looks great and the spare room is getting more and more empty and closer to being ready to house a cute little baby!

hope lilly and your nail are doing better

  • Oy, Elise, not a fun weekend at all. So sorry!

We had an RE appt and dinner with her mom but stayed in for most of it. We were feeling pretty lazy and stressed out.

Morgan-Do you have a link to your new blog?

  • oh. um, yes i do. it's on wordpress. guess the name. ;-) i may post the link on the yahoo group but haven't yet. i only have like three posts so far, and two of them are very short. well, they're all pretty short actually and i haven't done a ton of stuff getting it set up so far, but it's up and running. anyway, there you go.
