Yes, four years after the ceremony

My brother owns a production company and they (of course) offered to record the wedding and make a nice video for us. I'd teased my brother some over the years about it not being finished, but never seriously nagged him about it because he did it for free and his business partner paid for himself to come down to the wedding to film it, and I didn't want to be a jerk. But lo and behold, when I got home from a recent trip there was a little package in the mail - an unmarked DVD. He'd told me that he was sending us an anniversary present so I suspected right away what it was, but I didn't want to watch it until Jen got home just in case I was right. I popped it in today and there - our smiling faces, standing by the pond at the Public Gardens. We were mesmerized, I have to say

There were so many little things I forgot about in it - including the pastor choking up when she said "Commonwealth of Massachusetts" (we got married just a few weeks after it became legal, and we were her first gay wedding). And things we never saw - little interviews with our friends and my mom and dad and my best friend Jessica - who said "I know this maybe isn't the way we thought things would turn out, but being here today, I know it's right." I called my brother to thank him and he said that he actually thought they had lost the footage, and had thought so for the last year and a half, but never said anything because he couldn't bring himself to tell me. A few weeks ago he was looking for other footage for a different project and decided to do one last search for the wedding while he was doing that. And there it was - a DVD labeled "Jen and Rachel Wedding Master" right on top of the CD of music I sent him to use in the video. I'm so glad he found it. I would have gotten over it - we have the pictures, and the memories, and he's the best brother I could ask for in every other way - but it's such a sweet thing to see.

That is one thing I'm sad we didn't do... we meant to give our video camera to someone and have them record the ceremony, but we just forgot with all the other stuff going on. Oh well.

What a great surprise! We have a video of our ceremony that Carol's cousin filmed with our video camera. There was supposed to be video from the reception taken by another cousin, but he lost it.
Enjoy reliving your beautiful day!
