Same-Sex Households

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Letter about the SS board names
Okay, ladies, let's do this! I wish that I had kept a draft of the thing we sent back in the day to get the SS board out of hiding, because I lack a certain "flair" when it comes to writing letters. But I'm happy to contribute...
Basically, we all would like them to keep the boards here & on the Knot labeled "Same-Sex" instead of "Gay" (and, eventually, "Lesbian"). From what I've read, these are our reasons:
* We're such a small community as it is, there seems little need to separate us by gender
* Some SS female couples might refer to themselves as "gay" rather than (or interchangably with) "lesbian" (or, to put my two cents in, might feel like a lesbian board would be too femme for their tastes - and then what, we'll have "butch" and "femme" boards??)
* When they have an entire SS site, IMO, it would be fine if they wanted to have separate boards for males and females, but in the meantime...
* Correct me if I'm wrong, but SS male & SS female couples have a lot of the same issues around planning a wedding and running a household, yes?

yeah, the whole getting the board out of hiding thing was just a little before my time so i don't know all of the details and definitely don't have a copy of the letter. i'd definitely be willing to help work on it, but i'm out of town this weekend so i don't know how much i'd be able to before next week.
