Hi All.
We are TTC, and I'm trying to eliminate as many toxins from my life as I can right now (which will hopefully last well beyond baby making!). I'm trying to find personal care products that don't have toxins in them. I know someone posted a link a while back to a teenager's site who had created a toxin free makeup line, but I can't find it in the posts. If anyone has that, please repost.
Otherwise, please recommend your toxin free personal care products. I'm looking to phase out everything...makeup, shampoo, conditioner, hair care products...But I'd rather not spend thousands of dollars doing it. I'd appreciate any tips or recommendations you may have!
Thanks!
Re: Affordable makeup without toxins?
I am not sure if this was the specific site you were looking for, but here are a few links:

I got some samples of Rejuva to try while I am running out of my old makeup and I like it so far....

If anyone has shampoo/conditioner recommendations for really thick, curly hair, that would be great!
Also, regarding deodorant, I know it's bad, but I am hooked on the anti-persperant powers of Mitchem. At least they don't test on animals, right? But...is there any other way to get an anti-persperant effect in a more EF way? It's not odor that bothers me, it's wetness.
I have thin, curly hair and I use Gudonya Too (http://www.etsy.com/shop/GudonyaToo?ga_search_query=Gudonya&ga_search_type=seller_usernames_) from etsy- a lot of girls on this board recommend it and use it. It has been great for me and I rarely have to use conditioner anymore... I barely have to put product in it to keep the frizzies away. I tried the 4 oz. sizes first, then bought the 8 oz. after I knew how it worked.
I haven't tried a EF deodorant yet. You might want to start a new thread for that- I know others have suggested some before.

I haven't tried it yet b/c I am waiting for my stuff to run out. I am spending so much money replacing everything in my house!
I have thick curly hair and have had the best luck with Giovanni tea tree shampoo and conditioner. I wash every 4-6 days depending on how it's feeling and looking. I bought some of the Gudonya Too a few weeks ago and I liked it at first but now I'm not so sure. The first few washes were fine but now my hair gets a little greasy by day 3, which has never happened before. I think I'll give it a couple more weeks and switch back to Giovanni if it's still bad.
The first week of switching to Crystal deoderant was pretty rough. I was always feeling a little wetness and even had some odor occasionally. After a week or so, no more wetness even after working out or being in hot, humid weather. Even DH, who sweats like crazy, uses it and doesn't have problems. He used to get those big sweat circles under his armpits when he worked out or was outside in the summer with regular anti-persperant and now he doesn't. I've heard it takes a week or two for the chemicals from the non-EF deodorant to get out of your system and for the new deodorant to start working.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
DH and I use Crystal deoderant and I use Organic Wear makeup http://www.organicwearmakeup.com/en-us/default.html. I have a history of Alzheimers in my family, so having a no aluminum deoderant is very important to me. I went through many, many brands of natural deoderant that didn't work before trying the Crystal. Everyone is different though, I know several of the brands I tried (Jason's, Alba's, Tom's) work well for others on this board. The Organic Wear makeup is inexpensive, I can get it at the drugstore, has no harsh ingredients, chemicals, or parabens, and the packaging and makeup containers themselves are recyclable.
ETA: I have long, thin hair but have had good success with Avalon Organics shampoo and conditioners. Same deal, inexpensive, can get it from the grocery store, no SLS, parabens, animal ingredients, and is not tested on animals.
