Ladies who've embossed...pull up a chair

I have the block, I have the clear stamps, ink, embossing powder and a heat gun.  What am I missing?  I've read there are trays?  Are they worth it? I've also read there is some sort of dohicky that will remove the static so the powder/glitter doesn't stick...

Talk to me..  I feel like my invitiations need a little something something...

Re: Ladies who've embossed...pull up a chair

  • The little dohicky is an embossing buddy, it's like a powder filled little square... It does help with static, but I'm betting you shouldn't have many static issues anyway. I didn't use any trays. I just put out a whole sheet of paper, set the invite on it, stamped the invite, shook the powder over the stamp, turned the invite over and tapped off the excess onto the paper. I also stamped and powdered about 15 invites or so in a batch, laid them all out flat in rows on the table, then started embossing. I found it to be a PITA to turn the heat gun off and on constantly. HTH and let me know if you have any other questions!! :)

  • I used a tray and found it quite helpful. The tray is tapered at one end and has a hole w/ a plug at the end, so when you're done embossing you just unplug the hole and pour the powder back into the container. I didn't have any static issues at all and didn't use a static doohicky.
