Jaylee's momma

Hey Lesley, just wanted to see how your little one was doing... Out of curiosity are you still bf? I know you said she has teeth now & I am just wondering how that works. :)

Re: Jaylee's momma

  • HI Lori,

Jaylee is better.. She got her first ear infection last week and has been on amoxicilin for the past 10 days. To top that off she is also getting her 2 top teeth at the same time. Grrr.

I have continued to breastfeed. It's been tough, since she decides that she wants to use me as her own personal teether. Also with the solids that she has started her intake is not as much. So  I have had to cut down my pumpin sessions to only 1 time while at work. Needless to say my supply is slowly starting to tank. My OB also perscribed a differnt BC since she thinks that maybe the hormones in the minipill are causing some of my anxiety. It's been a rough month. Going back to work after being off for 2 week at Christmas break was HARD on me and also only fueled the anxiety. And with the change in BC the DR. said that my supply might go down even more. So it might just be night-time feeds for Jaylee in the coming months. I am trying to be okay with it all. I know that any amount of breastmilk i great for Jaylee and my real goal was to just make it to 4 months and look now I made it to 8. But I am thinking about maybe just staying off BC for a while and braving it out with all her teething. We'll have to see.

Okay that was a VERY long answer for such a short question. My 1 tip is when Brooke doe bite you that first time (we know she will) is to either tell her no in a stern voice or to put her down for a while and stop feeding for a few minutes so that she know that it hurt and not to do it again. I think I surprised Jaylee soo much that the only time she really bites me now is when she is sooo tired and figthing that sleep while nursing.. I hope that made sense...

  • I'm so glad that Jaylee is feeling better. :)

Brooke actually has NO teeth yet-- which is part of the reason why I am still BF. I actually didn't have plans to go this long, but now I'm realizing how lucky I am to have made it to almost 9 months. Formula is crazy expensive!

Just curious... are you and James going to start TTC #2 anytime soon?

  • we have thought about it. 2 of the teachers i work with just had their 2nd withe 2 years between each and it got me to start thinking. we want to try again when Jaylee is old enogh to be potty trained. that way we won't be changing 2 sets of diapers...

    How about u and Vance?

  • we're not entirely sure. We might try when she turns 1... but I am realizing that it is coming up FAST. I sort of want my body back to myself for a bit (no breastfeeding, no pregnancy, etc) ... but at the same time, I wouldn't mind having them close in age.

    Gah. . .we'll see I guess?
