How has everyone been?
How was your weekend?
Anything exciting lately?
anything not exciting??
lol, it's boring here today so give me some entertainment
Re: I need....
Not much exciting to report. We went back to WV this weekend to go to my husband's family reunion, and then we went to Morgantown to visit one of my good friends and her mother who isn't well.
We're gearing up to start packing... we close on the house a week from tomorrow!!! YAY so excited!
What's new with you MrsS? did you have a nice weekend? Get into anything exciting?
OK if I'm confused again I'm sorry, but your husband does like brick-laying/masonry/patio type work right? Has he ever built a stone charcoal grill?
We're just dreaming about what we want to do in the backyard... (possibly years down the road) and DH loves to grill (charcoal) and my parents were saying they had friends who had a beautiful stone charcoal grill... So I just thought I'd ask and see if your DH does anything like that!
actually yes he has. And the guy he works with has one that they built as well and Brian and I are currently planning ours! We are trying to decide how we want it all. Because we want it build on a rock patio like it is coming out of the patio.
He does everything from rock (think patios, stacked rock columns, water features, retention walls ect) to tile (from an easy floor to an elaborate shower) he is very good. (I know I'm bragging about him but only bc I'd never know how to do half the stuff they do!)
I have photos of his work somewhere. Would you like for me to get a general price range? I know they aren't cheap. (not really b/c of labor but materials in general...depending on the materials you want) but his labor is VERY reasonable.
My e-mail is Cari.Sheriff @ fluor.com
In other news. DH bday is today so we had a party this weekend for him. It was a lot of fun and we had a blast just hanging out. They got a fire call during the party (which MADE his night of course!) it was sooo bad! I am not exaggerating when I say that the flames were above the trees. When we pulled up it was so bad that I was probably a football field length away from the fire and had to move the car b/c lit ashes were falling on it. In fact the fire was so unruley and hot that even after they put the fire out, they had to got back 4 more time (!!!!) to put out re-lit ot spots. very bad. but the good news...it was an abandoned house so noone lost their home and noone was hurt! (It was like a 100 yr old home that could've been gorgeous had it been taken care of!) the house, the woods around the house and the barn all caught fire. The house itself was a 3 level home with 3 fire places and a 2 story barn....amazing had it been kept up.
Anyways...now that I've written a novel...I'm done!
My weekend was nice. My Mom was here, so she went with me to Zumba and then we spent alot of Saturday afternoon downtown (she's only been here once since we left NC). We had a great time. Ended up working around the house yesterday afternoon and just relaxing afterward.
Nothing really exciting is going on We found out my FIL is having surgery the last week of this month so we're going to their house to check on him and relax w/ both MIL & FIL over labor day weekend (just Saturday and Sunday-neither of us wants to get stuck in traffic coming home on that Monday)
Aside from that weekend we're just planning on hanging out around here till we go on our belated honeymoon/1 year anniversary trip in October. I cannot wait!!! need to do a little bit of shopping-anyone want to join me?? I've gotta find a few pairs of shorts/cute/comfy outfits for the cruise/excursions n such.
Other than that I'm just working afternoons/evenings @ the gym and spending the evenings w/ DH and the pups, and just enjoying the way life's going right now!!
btw-MRSZ-how did your weekend turn out??
Have a great day ladies!!
Well you see my dad made a huge mistake of mentioning that his buddy built his own grill so now Zach thinks it could be a DIY project haha.
Maybe when we ehave the group get-together this summer your DH can talk some sense into mine haha.
I dont mind DIYing some things, but I just feel like we have NO level of expertise whatsoever in this. DH reads like you wouldn't believe though, so maybe he could get a good detailed book on it and figure it out... or maybe unofficially off-the-clock we could arrange something with your DH where we can pay him to help and at least keep us on the right track
Anyway, it'll probably be quite a while before we get to that, but like you said, we kinda want it to look like part of the actual patio (which we have to build too haha... but we want it to just be seamless, with the grill kinda matching the paving stones of the patio... if that makes sense.
Anyway you work at Fluor? That's a great company, what do you do there?
yeh I know eaxactly how you are talking about.... that's how we want ours to look!
Oh yeh, Brian would be cool helping him out...teach him how to do it and overlook it. Yeh we are a bit away from ours too (and still need a patio as well) but it does take a while to plan these things so you can't start getting ideas too soon. (or maybe we can do a trade off...lol my DH helps yours and yours helps mine lol...) They look really amazing when done, don't they??
Yeh, I've worked here for about a year and a half now. I pretty much do document management type work. I like it. It isn't what I went to school for (I went for early childhood ed...waaaay off ha!) but It's a good job with good people and Fluor does a lot for it's employees. It's nice over here. (and RIGHT beside the mall!!!)
MRSD: I'm always up for a shopping trip! Even if I'm broke I love to look! Sounds like a nice weekend. I love just hanging around downtown. so nice and relaxing with plenty to do! I bet it was nice...
I hope the surgery goes well! and have a safe trip... I haven't planned anything for my labor day weekend yet... but we usually go to the beach for it since it's always around my bday (I was born on labor day but this year I fall 2 days behnd it...born on the 3rd) so hopefully some people will take it apon themselves to do something for it for me! (lol can we say hint hint?? I've been hinting like a mofo!)
We've been doing great! Just busy at work, but today seems kinda slow so far so I'm really glad and thankful for that!
My weekend was awesome. We've been SO BUSY lately on the weekends so we really took advantage of this past weekend and did practically nothing but stuff around the house. It was a much needed weekend. We had a lot of fun.
Not anything too exciting lately.
Anything not exciting? Well we rolled some coins yesterday! You know how you just let your change pile up and pile up!?! Well we rolled a ton of coins and it all totaled to $115!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY! We're using some for a dinner out on the town and the rest will probably go to a bill (soooo exciting in the Ball household, huh?) Haha. That was fun though!
no seriously starz about the coin thing. I would think that was super exciting. Extra money!! Bri gets so mad at me because he has a jar he puts his spare change in and I raid it for drink mahine money all the time. He says we'd probably be millionaries by now if I'd just leave it alone lol...oops!
AlwaysMrsS, I totally think we could work out some sort of labor-trade agreement if your husband needs help with his grill haha. DH oesn't have the expertise, but he's very strong and not araid of hard work Of course we could pay your DH too for his expertise, but maybe a little of Zach's muscle power on your grill could help the "insider" price your DH may offer
That's great about your job, I've heard it's a great company to work for. Do you get a referral bonus? It sounds like your job is a lot like what my DH is doing right now for an insurance company right now... lot of documentation stuff... Anyway if you hear of any openings we'd love a referral!
Also Mrs. D glad your mom had a good weekend here! My weekend as fine, the family reunion was just as expected, and then visiting my friend and her sick mom was really hard but I'm glad we made the trip up there to see them.
Every thing is great here! We had a busy weekend but was able to attend my cousin's wedding! It was BEAUTIFUL! No real exciting news lately... just working our way to the end of our 1st trimester (slowly but surely)! We're getting excited for our upcoming appointment on Tuesday of next week... It's been almost 1 month since we've seen our baby via u/s and we can't wait to see how much he/she has grown! We're praying every day that our little one will grow to be a healthy baby and can't wait until March 2009 when we get to meet him/her...
i've been good...busy busy at work. we've had lots of visitors this summer and not much "us time" but its been fun!
this weekend DH's cousin (basically his sister since they were raised in the same household together) came to visit. we were kinda lame hosts since we watched the olympics alot. we went to the farmer's market & then isle of palms beach with our dog on saturday. chance (our dog) doesn't enjoy the waves very much but she's doing a little better each time we take her out. (only a few scratches & 1 bruise this time).
this weekend we're going to NC to see our families. i'm uber excited since i haven't seen my 5 month old nephew/godson since june at his baptism! my sister, BIL & son just moved to NC from VA so i'm looking forward to see the cute house they are now living in.
i'm also excited for the 28th! this NC State fan will be at the opening USC football game! i'm a huge football fan & can't wait for the season to begin, but i am dreading september where for 3 weeks straight we drive back to raleigh for games.
March 2011 moved to WA from Charleston, SC
live in Mill Creek, work in Seattle, DH works in Mt Vernon
Sounds like everyone's going pretty great. That's Fantastic!!!
jsvb14-my DH is an NCSU alum. We'll be heading up to Raleigh on the last weekend of September for the NCSU/USF game. My parents attended USF, so there has been a LOT of talk in regards to that game-since the schedule came out. It'll definitely be interesting-I can't wait though-the 4 of us always have a great time.
Have a great afternoon!!
