camping w/ dogs

Alright clever ladies, help me come up with a solution...

This week is K's bday so she wants to go camping Friday and Saturday.  Saturday we have passes to an adventure course (ropes and zip lines), which means we'll be away from the camp site for about 6 hours.  We want to bring the dogs but we can't leave them for that long.  I've looked into doggie daycare near the camp grounds but there aren't any.  Anyone who normally watches our dogs will be away....and I just can't afford to board them.  So the only solution I see, is to make it a day trip.  Anyone?  I'm really sad we can't camp as that's all K requested to do.

Re: camping w/ dogs

  • camping w/ dogs is so hard for this very reason :(

the only thing i could come up with is maybe call the campground and see if there is a staff member, son/daughter, teen, ect who might be interested in making a few bucks by hanging out at the campsite to watch the dogs for a bit?  Or ask if someone there knows of a dog sitter in the area? maybe check craigs list?

  • How far is the campsite from your home? Could you go out Friday with the dogs, then drop them back home Saturday morning before your adventure course (which sounds like so much fun, btw!), then go do the adventuring, then head home? Or maybe do the adventure course this weekend (sans dogs) then camp next weekend (with dogs)? Yeah, I'm grasping at straws... Hope something works out!!

  • Unfortunately it's a bit too far to make two trips out.  I just feel so bad, because one of the girls going with us took Friday off so we could camp that night.  Ugh...
