Stupid, but irritating

I'm really tired of passwords.  I have several just for work and they each require different a combination of lower case letters, upper case letters, numbers, and random symbols.  Then a couple have to be changed at regular intervals and do not let me ever reuse passwords, even if it was last used three years ago. It's all in the name of computer safety.

Because of this nonsense, many of my co-workers have their passwords written down and keep their password cheat sheet in a desk drawer.  Very safe.

Re: Stupid, but irritating

  • same here. my passwords are all on a wordpad document on my desktop. the passwords i need to actually log in are on a sheet of paper on my cube wall. one needs to be changed every 30 days, so i just cross out out and write the new one beneath it. generally i try to keep all of my passwords the same thing, and i change the last few numbers.

it's a PITA, and not at all secure, but i am not committing all 30+ passwords to memory.

ALSO, for anyone wanting to commit indentity theft, i have a little book with all of my personal login IDs and passwords in my desk as well.
