My most hated professor in college developed the wind chill factor. It always reminds me of senior thesis, process control (with all of it's partial dif eqs), and mass transfer. The man developed a curve that involved a square root.
Re: I hate windchill
Don't get me started on the gas stations that have removed the little metal thing from under the lever so you have to hold it the entire time. If it's cold, raining sideways or hot I don't want to be out pumping gas people!
(I don't know what that thing is called.)
Awesome, you're not supposed to touch the car when you're pumping gas! You could blow yourself up with static electricity!
And they probably haven't taken the thing off - it's been vandalized, or just fell off. It's not like anyone does anything with those pumps unless there's a problem or they're being tested by the state.
Oh noes! Does it make it worse if I talk on my cell phone?!
I have to be angry at someone about it. Actually, I figured they took it off due to stupid people that don't pay attention then are all I only meant to get $6 worth!!! Then buy 2 natties.
You don't have to prepay at gas stations wherever you are? That's so weird. I have heard of these mythical "pump-first" stations, but have never seen one.
And I'm serious about the static electricity. It can cause a spark, and boom! there you go, to the big gas station in the sky. Of course, I live in a very dry climate, so I'm not about to fck with static electricity: I've injured myself crossing the carpet and opening the door.
If you touch your car before the pump handle you will dissipate the static charge and eliminate the fire potential. The static electricity general comes from getting in and out of your car, so if you don't do that it's not an issue.
