i'm about to cutabitch.
jerkoff faculty just sent an email to my boss's boss making some grand assumption that my office made some bureaucratic unilateral decision about his student without notifying him or the student resulting in some minor inconvenience to him and the student.
i've never interacted with this man in my life.
the situation could have been remedied with a simple phone call to me or anyone on my staff. the inconvenience basically comes down to a software issue, which we have absolutely no control over, and has nothing to do with how the program i administer is run or any sort of bureaucracy.
in the mean time, he sends a follow up message demanding it's time for the faculty to re-take authority over academic programs to ensure they are run smoothly and competently.
oh no you didn't.
momofarker, you've always HAD the authority as a faculty member to oversee this damn program, but the faculty as a collective have NEGLECTED and ABDICATED their responsibility for overseeing the stupid program. we've been saying this is the exact problem with this program FOR YEARS!!!!
plus, i'd like to just see you mr. academic actually try to be an administrator for once. let's see how well you can handle 1000+ students each program cycle. i expect your results to be stellar and without one single mistake or oversight.
dude has seriously ruined my tuesday. and the worst part is, i can't even enjoy a glass of wine to mellow the fark out over this.
someone hand me some chocolate.

I just had a faculty member all upset that I included my co-worker in a meeting. YES, we're staff. But guess what? we're the ones who DO this ***. If some of you want to climb down off the ivory towers and do it? yo'ure welcome to. But you don't get to be huffy that I invite the people actualy INVOLVED to the meeting to discuss it.

just got an email from my boss's boss, apologizing for the faculty's blasting emails. it's great to know that i have more allies than enemies, but the whole damn thing just burns my chops.
thankfully, it sounds like my boss's boss and boss are both on my side in this.
