On with the TMI posts

I just have to ask. Have you ever hurt your back AFTER sex? hahaha, it sounds so much more crazy than reality. I promise that I wasn't swinging from a trapeze. It was fine when we were having sex. Twice.

The next day I leaned over to pick up a glass. My lower back had a crazy spasm. It felt like the nerves had electricity going through them. Pain. I couldn't move. Honestly, I stood completely frozen, leaning forward, alone, wondering how I could get to the phone to call for help.

WTH? I wasn't lifting anything. I was just reaching for something. My muscles were not sore. It was a weird nerve thing. The pain can go away completely if I'm not moving. Then, if I turn or lean, I get the nerve pain again.

Since I didn't workout, the only thing I can think would stress my back would be sex.

Is this possible?

Has it happened to you?

If not, what's the weirdest thing that has happened?

  • lol. i've never had back pains after sex but i've had lower back pains similar to what you have described. one possible cause is that you leg muscles were really tight and depending on what acrobatic positions you have done, you probably tilted your pelvis. this may be causing the pain in your lower back since the tilted pelvis may have been pinching some nerves or muscles. try putting hot compress or bengay where it hurts and massage the muscle. if the pain does not go away in a week, try going to a chiro and have yourself adjusted back :-).
  • LOL, yes I have...but mine was a traumatic injury - pain right away.  I don't want to go into detail (or do I?) but MH put a little too much oomph or weight or something and it caught me off guard and totally hurt my lower back.   That was several months ago and like you I still have nerve pain or spasms if I turn or lean quickly or if I sit too long then get up the wrong way.
  • Sounds like you have a bulging disk. It presses on the nerve to cause that electric shock feeling. I have 3...not from acrobatic sex, though! Haha. Chiro helps. I also did PT and that helped a lot, too. Mine was so bad, though, that a couple times I couldn't walk or even sit up. I could only lie in the fetal position to not feel pain.

this.  the last time I did it, I was bending down to get something out of the laundry basket between getting out of bed and heading into the shower.  after I went to the chiro later that day, i felt MUCH better, but he said it's pretty common.

  • Not back pain, but I have had leg pain after on occasion...you know, like if things are a bit, um, vigorous, afterward I'll be walking around and will get muscle cramps or kind of spasms in my calf. Maybe I should start stretching before, just in case. Wink
  • Maybe my hamstrings were tight from hanging by my knees from the chandelier. Stick out tongue

I hope the electrical shock in my back goes away by Valentine's Day. I don't think guys like flowers and candy so much. haha, I could give him a gift certificate from "Abstinence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder".

  • stretching might help... just be careful!
  • hahaha omg nancy i should not be laughing at this post but I am because it has happened to me soooo many times.   Have had chronic back problems and been in and out of pt numerous times.  My pt and i had a running joke some days i would come in in tons of pain and she would ask okay=did you do anything different, were you running, etc?  and my reply would be actually i think this might have been a result of nocturnal activities.  anyway it can be any number of things for me my hips tends to whack out of alignment which causes the problem-hope you feel better-and no this is not the weirdest thing that has happened to me
