for this weekend?
(this is as formal as we get--we're not formal peeps)
the Ils and my parents are coming for a b-day party. MIL will bring cake; my parents will bring ice cream and a salad (toss salad).
Menu:
Appetizers of various crackers and cheese/cheese dip. We've got a *small* amount of home-made summer sausage left to go with this. And if I'm up to it,, the little 'roll ups' of tortillas and salsa & ham.
-Pecan/honey glazed pork chops as the main course
-Pasta salad
-Cinnamon swirl quickbread
-Cheddar-garlic-biscuts (I'll make garlic butter for this too)
-Steamed mixed veggies
And I'm planning *some* sort of yet-unknown dessert add on. Probably both cake-balls or simple truffles and chocolate mousse or chocolate pots de le creame (sp)
But I feel like I"m forgetting something.
Re: Since Entertaining Ideas sucks, want to approve my menu
The cinnamon quick bread sounds good, but seems out of place. I'd probably swap the pasta salad for a different starch- rosemary whipped sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, wild rice.
An easy app is shrimp cocktail or I have an awesome and easy shrimp dip.
yeah, the quickbread is mostly on the list because I'm making some for a friend tonight so I'll have it in the house :-P
Shrimp is off the list, the Mr. is VERY allergic, I try not to ahve it in the house because he's forgotten.
Smashed 'taters do sound good...hmmm; I probably have everything for those w/o having to make an extra store run too.
Now I want sweet potatoes with honey and brown sugar. Yum!
This is awesome and you can make ahead.

Here's my thecret recipe for them:

both are bookmarked and the Mr. will probably be the decider since he's the one doing the grocery shopping ;-P
Thanks!
