Do have any Valentines Day Traditions? Or have any ideas of traditions to start?

Re: Valentines day traditions?

  • we take turns planning the activity/date. It's usually a surprise and it's always so fun when he plans it.

  • Not really - but on our very first Valentine's Day DH and I went to see Hannibal.  So this year we decided we're going to go see the Wolfman.  It's a combo Anthony Hopkins/scary movie tradition ;-)

  • We were talking about the switching who plans the day every year. Also thinking about cooking dinner together every year?

Cooking together is a good plan.  DH and I do this two times a month on our date nights.

  • We like to do something unexpected. Our tradition is to eat dinner at Wendy's. Seriously....lol. I love it.

Then again we also have a tradition to go out to eat Chinese for Christmas dinner. We're a little different like that.

  • that's really cute going to Wendys :) I think were going to start a tradition of staying in all day since our schedules are very busy and cooking together! Thank y'all very much!!

  • DH is great, but he's not so great at holiday/gift stuff. If I don't plan it, it doesn't happen. I'm not planning anything this Valentine's Day, so I'm not expecting anything. It's a sad tradition :(
  • Our tradition is to do nothing.  It's a Hallmark holiday.  We'd rather wait until the 23rd and celebrate the night we got engaged.  It's so much more meaningful, restaurants aren't as crowded and flowers don't cost H an arm and a leg.

    We do this too!

  • My FI and I make homeade pizza and try to out-topping each other.  We're both very anti-going out to eat on Valentine's Day (and New Years Eve), and it's so low key and relaxing.  I cou;dn't ask for anything more.
  • We have had a heart shaped pizza on Valentine's Day for the last 15 years.
    .
  • LOVE the heart shaped pizza idea, that is way cute! I'll definitely have to do that next year, or really anytime soon would work, too. We don't really have any traditions except putting everything else aside to maximize our time spent with each other on Valentine's Day. And I also have a wonderful and amazing fiance who always has great surprises for me on V-Day. :)

  • Well this year I went to the doctor and found out I have step throat and felt miserable all weekend, so I don't want that to be a tradition.

We just save the day for ourselves (no lesson planning or law school homework). We just eat together (usually out) and window shopping. He'll go to a store with me he doesn't normally like to.

  • This was our first Valentine's Day as a married couple, but I could certainly live with the plans DH made this year!

He booked a suite, complete with a fireplace at the Inn where we were married.  Chocolate covered strawberries & champagne were waiting in the room.  We had dinner overlooking a lake, went for drinks, and had a lovely time :)
