What do you use on your granite/marble? Stainless? Wood floors? I am trying to make the switch but its hard for me. I love my bleach and germ fighting chemicals. I have been using vinegar and water on my glass and mirrors. I heard vinegar was too acidic for wood floors and granite/marble. Also what essential oils are best for smell and disinfecting. Thanks for all your help. I'm trying!
Re: Cleaners
First, congrats for breaking free of those awful chemicals! Vinegar has its own antibacterial, anti mold and antivirus properties.
Vinegar and water is fine to use on wood floors. In fact, you do not want to use any oil based cleaners on wood floors if you plan on having them refinished someday.
We use vinegar and water on our wood floors. We also have a shark steam cleaner that just uses water.
I've always heard you should use vinegar and water on wood floors, from many wood floor owners and the guy that refinished ours. I use a gallon bucket of water with a couple cups of vinegar, ring the cloth really well, wash and then dry shortly thereafter to make it shine.
Tea tree oil has disinfectant properties but has a very strong smell. I can't say I like it but I'm getting used to it. Smell-wise, I like peppermint for around the house. It smells fresh and energizes me when I'm cleaning.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
