Over the past 2-3 months my dog has all of a sudden starting going psycho when someone comes to the door. He lets out the most obnoxious, high pitch screech everytime and doesnt stop until he can ump on the person and sniff them. He has never done this before and I have never heard a dog make a noise like this before. How do I stop it? I've tried squirting him with water from a water bottle- that was recommended to me by a trainer at petsmart, but that does not even phase him.
He is about to be 7 years old. Why would this start all of a sudden? I know that no one has broken into the house because we have an alarm and I am home about 90% of the time.

You both might try this book: http://www.dogwise.com/itemdetails.cfm?ID=DTB527
Its a quick read and all about the signals that your dog is giving and how to give calming signals back at them. Effective communication with your dog is key to curbing undesirable behaviors.
If you need a dog trainer - this one really helped us with our crazy dog.

She has classes but she also does private consultations (we've done both) and she's so great with dogs. If need be you could just do a one time one hour consultation with her to fix some of the issues you have.
