I booked the hotel and photographer for my boudoir pictures today.
Now I need to decide about hair and makeup. Most of you have met me and realize that I'm pretty much a fashion don't. I'm trying to get better, but I'm not there yet.
So, I want to get my makeup done for the session. Where would you go to get your makeup done? Will there be a charge? Will they only do half of my face and then make me do the other half, because that's terrifying to me. Will I need to buy the products they use on me? See, total fashion don't; I'm clueless. Someday I'll need someone to take me shopping and teach me how to do makeup.
Second, I have long hair. But I'm still planning on getting a pixie cut done. Which would be better for boudoir pictures? I'm planning on sneakily asking Jeff which he'd prefer if he were to come home to a nakie wife all dolled up, but I thought I'd get your input, too. The pixie will be a change, but whenever I get my hair cut I tell the stylist to do whatever they want and surprise me. So it's not like I've worn my hair this way for 27 years, and am going to change it for one day, and then go right back to the same style for 27 more years.
Re: Fashion help, please!
You can get your makeup done at the makeup counter at the mall for free - just call to make an appointment.
If you want something more natural looking, I'd suggest Laura Mercier. Their products are really high quality and the line is more on the "natural" looking side. If you want something dramatic or pin-up style you should go to Mac. I used to have them do my makeup all the time when I did promotions and the Playboy event, and I've always loved the dramatic look.
They use all the products they have there on you, so don't worry about buying anything. I think that as a courtesy some people buy one product at the end, but I've never been pressured to purchase anything.
I would wait until after the pics to cut your hair. That way you can do the sexy hair draping-down poses!!
Oh I'm so jealous of your budoirs!! Once I lose my jooty booty I want to get them done too!
I would start collecting b-pics of those that are your style, or what you (or your DH) find sexy...that way you can see what looks good and what you wouldn't like. Also, you can bring the photos w/ you to go lingerie shopping, and I'm sure the sales people would be happy to help you achieve that look.
As for makeup, I agree to go with Mac (or a private makeup artist). I think you have to go a bit more dramatic than you normally would, and I think Mac artists do a great job. Not sure about fees either, but I usually end up buying 1 or two items just to be courteous.
You're going to have SO much fun!! And I'm sure Jeff is gonna love them!!

If you're looking for a specific recommendation, I highly recommend Anne at the Mac makeup counter at the downtown Nordstrom. She does a great job. There is a $50 fee but that can be applied towards the purchase of your makeup (including fake eyelashes), if you decide to purchase any.
Some other places for lingerie are Nordstrom (the downtown store has a good selection) and Oh Baby (there's one on NE Broadway and NW 23rd).

OK, so the long hair stays. I'll get an appointment and get it evened out and get it blown out that day.
Thank you all for the makeup recs. I'll probably head to Nordstrom, since I love that store so much and have them do it. And I can have them teach me do play up my eyes while I'm at it, which is something I was never taught and want to know how to do. That's awesome the $50 can go toward products.
I'm a really weird bra size (28B), so most lingerie doesn't work great for me. I really, really miss the Intimacy store I had in Boston because I could pick out whatever bra I liked and they'd alter it for me so the band would fit properly. Are there any places here that will do that? I usually end up ordering online from The Little Bra Company.
When I had mine done I figured it was a one time thing and I would never be doing this again so I had my make-up done professionally. Loved it! Helped me feel beautiful and more confident. The eyes are uber important for b-photos!

Also, ditto to checking out pics and finding your favorite poses and ideas. Also can give you an idea for cloths. Once thing I did was a Mets Jersey....Hubby is a huge Mets fans so I did some pics in the jersey with panties only.
i have to agree with the others...you DO have fashion sense silly goose!
AND long hair YES....and overdo your makeup...I didn't for mine and I was disappointed that I didn't!
andddddd have fun....seriously they'll be a blast, I want to do them again after i lose 7 more pounds haha (but i probably won't)

But as someone who has worn makeup twice this year, won't any makeup I do be obvious? :-p
My photographer will give a discount if anyone wants to get some done at the same time.
This sounds like SO much fun! BTW, I still get the department store counters to do my make up for free all the time. They've told me to come in on the weekdays in the mornings and they're usually not at all busy so they're much more willing to do your make up for you. Also a couple of tips, try not to wear anything with SPF including your moisturizer or make up when you have photo's done. I LOVE Smashbox make up for photo's as its taylored for them but they've started putting SPF in a few things so you have to mention that you want to try make up with out.
Also if you do want to learn how to do make up go to the Nordstrom Trend Shows. They're coming up in March and April and are tons of fun!
