Most snow for least amount of traffic?

DH and I were hoping to take DD up to see the snow this weekend. Our main goals are to go sledding and avoid oodles of traffic. Is this possible? Would somewhere off the grapevine be better than say Big Bear?

Where and which day would be best? DH has to work Monday unfortunately.

  • We took the kids up to Baldy after the last big marathon storm that we had and while there was some traffic it wasn't that bad.  CHP was regulating traffic coming up the mountain but after you got through that checkpoint it was pretty good.  No clue about Big Bear or the grapevine though.  Sorry!
  • Honestly I have family with cabins up in Running Springs and they said that right now no matter which direction you're heading they're slammed with people excited about fresh snow. :-/

     Good luck!

  • I think we decided Idyllwild since there's no ski resort that we know of.
