Poll: New Year's Resolutions

Spill the beans ladies, we're almost to the chocolate blow-out Valentine's Day, the time of year the resolutions start to crumble.  How are those New Year's Resolutions going?  Did you have any?

I resolved to hit the gym 4-5 days a week.  It's been going pretty well.  The scale is not going down nearly as fast as I'd like it to (I want the Biggest Loser weekly numbers, kwim?) but I feel so much better.

How are things going for the rest of y'all?

Re: Poll: New Year's Resolutions

  • Resolution 1: Not to purchase any clothes (minus necessities like bridesmaid dress, undies, socks).  Check

Resolution 2: Not to purchase canned products (ie beans). Check

    Are those considered resolutions? hmm..

  • Ha! I gave up diet resolutions this year: they're on hold until the end of May ;)

My/our resolution was to save everything we didn't 'need' for essentials (Food, Rent utils) for my maternity leave. I'm proud of us: we've got a nice chunk of savings now. If only we had been this disciplined the last few years! But hey, no time like the present.

We will be going home for the holidays this year to introduce LO to his extended fam. I hope to be in a 10 or 12 by then, so we'll see how that goes. I was a 14 pre-preg. Wish me luck!

  • Resolution One: Go greener...

Verdict: slowly working on it, and getting DH on board, too.

Resoultion Two: Learn to sew and learn Photoshop

    Verdict : Nothing

Resolution Three:Get DH to run a 5k with me, and me to run another half marathon.

Verdict: He agreed, but we have yet to sign up (for either)

Resolution: Go to church once a month (or find one that works for liberal me) and volunteer once a quarter

Verdict: Found a church we like, but have to go back regularly..volunteering? Not quite yet.

I know of an awesome church if you're interested... and it's liberal-friendly!  Stick out tongue

I'm totally up for recs! We found one in Beaverton that we both really like, but are still "church shopping"!

  • Mine is to read through the entire bible this year. Its going much better than I would have expected but I am currently 3 days behind. Hopefully I can catch up this weekend.

  • Resolution #1A- (Continued from last year) be better to myself. Lost 30 pounds, got hurt running, gained 8 pounds back, lost 4 pounds, now another 4 to go until I am where I was at in September of 09.

Resolution #1B- Lose 15 pounds after my 4 pounds to total 19 pounds by May 8th.

Resolution #2 - Live my life more organized that I have been

Resolution #3 - Stand up more for others when I have the opportunity to do so.

     So totally not easy! ah!

  • Did I make resolutions?

    I don't remember, exactly.

I think one was to go to church regularly.  We did that in January.  :-p

However, I think I also resolved to exercise better.  So far, I've done yoga 3 days a week for 4 weeks and kept up my weight training program.  Now that yoga is routine, I'm adding Pilates in 3 times a week.  And starting in March, I'd like to start the C25k program again and start running with Nan.

Gotta get some abs and belly rolls before May 21st (boudoir pics Wink).

If you want a Christian church there's the United Church of Christ on Cedar Hills in between 26 and Walker.  They advertise that they are inclusive and progressive.  I don't go to Christian church, but if I still did, I'd probably go there.

However, if you are more "open", I really like the First Unitarian Church downtown in SW on 12th.  It's big and inviting and they have a great service.  If you do go to service there, afterwards they have a coffee social downstairs in the basement.  I highly recommend going down there, it gives you a better sense of the "values" of the church and everyone there is SO friendly.

There's also West Hills UU Fellowship (which is Unitarian Universalist) on SW Oleson Rd by Washington Square.

    Happy Shopping!
