I can't believe I did it (warning-TMI)

I got a brazilian (...and survived, lol)! Just a little rec. if any of you ladies are looking to get waxed: My sister reffered me to Honey from the European Wax Center in Weston. She was a doll! So sweet and patient ( I actually accidentally hit her during the process Embarrassed ). I wont lie... it was painful (althought she assured me that next time it will not be as bad), but she was so funny that the time flew by.

Re: I can't believe I did it (warning-TMI)

  • dude. I've totally been wanting to do this but I'm too chicken. maybe I will...
  • It definitely hurts less the more you do it.  Just make sure you don't shave in between waxing appts - for some reason after you shave the hair comes in thicker than with waxing and then the next time you wax it'll hurt like the first time!

I completely agree. I have been doing it for 5 years now and it does hurt less and what's even better as time goes by you can go longer in between appointments since the hair starts to grow slower and much much smoother.

I also go to European Wax Center but I visit the one in Kendall (88th St &124th Ave). I normally go to Diana. She is great.

Ditto!  DON"T SHAVE BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS!  LOL

The first time is the worst... not only b/c of the pain factor, but IMO b/c of the embarassment.  But once you find "your waxer" it is fine.

    Enjoy!

I'm going to say it too - DON'T SHAVE!! I made that mistake because I was behind  on my appointment and oh my Gooood I regretted it so much.  Oh and Honey used to be my waxer!  She did a good job, but she used to lecture me if I waited more than 4 weeks between apts and I hated that lol.  I don't go there for a guilt trip!  Just wax me, woman!

I go to the European Wax Center in Aventura and I'm actually signed up for that plan that charges your card every month and it's great.  I get a good discount and I can cancel at any time :)

But yes, as pp said, it hurts way less the more and more you go.  Last time I barely flinched.   It's really amazing and DH is in love haha.

Angie - DO IT!  Katie was afraid and I convinced her to do it before her wedding and she is addicted now like everyone else :)

  • oh, I've gotten waxed... just not the whole shebang.

to continue with the TMI-ness of the thread, I just shave

The whole shebang isn't that much worse, seriously!  If you want, I'll go with you to the European Wax Center in Aventura next month.  I won't be due to go again until then.  My girl there is really sweet and good too. :)

  • Oh isn't this regular girl talk???

Well I went the other day (go to a place by my office) and I was SCARED.  It wasn't going to be the 1st time.  But I haven't done it since before the baby...and she is going to be 4 months.  So I definitely thought it was going to be PAINFUL!! But to my surprise I believe I only flinched twice.  I mean...don't get me wrong.  There's pain but nothing that you can't handle.

Angie--- just remember get the cold wax NOT the strips.  I've done the strips and OMG those b!tch es hurt.  (excuse my language)

Personally, I think the underarms hurt sooooo much more.

Aww .. Yeah, she gave me a bunch of info.. but i just figured she was doing it since i'm a newbie.

I agree with PP.. the cold wax is better .. and once you do a part of it, the rest is not that big of a deal (I had a regular bikini wax before my wedding).

.. oh and it does help to have someone there ... I would of gave up halfway through if my sister wasn't there .. she was amazing (and tough!)

  • I may take you up on that

we have such romantic dates... getting your gnarly toe nails attended to, getting my junk waxed. what's next?!

  • I say we hold a pep rally for Angie !!! woop woop!

YOU CAN DOOOO ITTTT!!! ::in my Mexican voice::

  • It will be better next time! I have been waxing for about 3 years now and it doesn't bother me at all anymore. Good for you for going the first time, it is nothing but easier from here on out!

lol!! I actually wasn't planning on going in the room with ya, that's pretty up close and personal and would probably make you more uncomfortable! Sisters is one thing, friends not so much :).  But I would cheer ya on from the hall! You just need to get there and then you'd do it.  It's really not as bad as it seems.  I expected it to be much worse, and apparently my Latin ass has some deep rooted hair that makes it more painful.

Hmm after the waxing we will have to think up something really good.

We only went on a solo date because we live near each other :).  We should plan on another GTG soon though, I feel like it's been a while!

  • I go to European Wax in West Boca and sweat my Lynet. I definitely agree with the other girls on not shaving in between. It definitely doesnt hurt as much once you store going regularly. I take 2 aleve before I go too.

Angie- Michelle is a bad influence, she's the one that convinced me to go and now I'm a believer, lol.

He's my fairytale, a dream when I'm not sleeping.

  • Wow...maybe one day...but I cringe thinking about it. I think I'd need to be liquored up to go all the way, lol.

oh. dude. no way. I like you, but I don't like you that much!

  • This thread made me LOL!!!

I also agree that the first time is the worst, and that shaving in between is a BIG no no. However, I hate getting waxed anyway. It's just such a PITA and I know MH could care less whether it's shaved or waxed, lol..

Laser hair removal - now there is something I can get behind. That is something I am definitely looking into doing!
