Oh yeah, I can't believe I forgot to brag about our awesome Vegas vacation!!
We had a fantastic time! Let me hit some highlights:
~ We continued our new tradition of taking prom-style photos by having our party pic taken at the rooftop bar of our hotel on Friday night. In the background: a group of dudes wearing fedoras & fake moustaches. (bachelor party, maybe?)
~ He likes to give me little gifts to commemorate certain occasions, so he gave me my second gumball machine necklace. The charm is a crown, and I'm wearing it in our prom-style photo.
~ Friday morning, his Dad called at 7:45am to see if we wanted to join him and the uncle for a road trip to some Bavarian Village. Umm, no. Apparently, his Dad decided to then stake out the hotel Starbucks. So when Mr. Tuxedo went down two hours later to collect coffee drinks for us, Dad pounced on him and demanded to meet me immediately. (Note: I arrived into town late on Thursday.)
Mr. Tuxedo knocked before coming into our room, because I'd been in the shower when he left. Luckily, I'd spent my time while he was away getting dressed. I was wearing jeans and the tank top I planned to wear under my sweater, so as I opened the door, he rushed inside and said "Do you want to put a shirt on? My Dad's here." I managed to pull on my sweater and kick my suitcase closed before Dad came in.
~ His Dad now has my cell phone number. Apparently, I passed the family test after my "grilling" at family dinner. I got added to the address book! Still waiting for Dad to call me. I imagine it will probably be at half-past crack of dawn one day; his dad gets up EARLY. Like, 4am early.
~ Our one regret: not taking better advantage of all the delicious dining opportunities in LV. His family loves a buffet. But we were in good company for meals, at least. And I really wasn't complaining about the seafood buffet lunch--fresh sushi rolled while you wait? Yes please!
~ When one is a UT alum, and away from home in a place where one gets a lot of questions about their hometown with follow-ups about the Longhorns, one can adopt a tendency to start flashing excessive "Hook 'Em"s when overserved at a fancy LV nightclub. I managed to cut myself off before entering into full-on Mary Catherine Gallagher mode. Mr. Tuxedo was quite entertained by my shenanigans, despite not being from TX.
