fondue

okay, so we always start with cheese. We usually just buy the pre-made one from Trader Joes or this specialty grocery store we have around here called Nugget. We add some chopped garlic and white wine (you of course can omit that). We cut up some bread and apples and enjoy that as the first course. When the cheese is gone, or we are sick of eating it we let the pot cool down and DH wipes it out.

Next course we do chicken broth (or veggie broth is good). We add some more garlic (we love garlic) and season to taste (whatever you are in the mood for). We usually cut up a piece of steak, a piece of chicken and some veggies for that. We cook or main course in the broth and enjoy.

When we are done with that we let the pot cool off (we have the Cuisinart fondue pot and as soon as we turn the heat off it cools down quickly). Then we add chocolate (again we buy it pre bought, but you can make your own. You can use dark or milk chocolate. Make sure you add milk, even with the pre bought one. We have marshmellows, strawberries, and will usually buy some angel food cake to cut up.

Wa-la!! There's your fondue dinner. It takes a few hours, but it's lots of fun and way cheaper than those fondue places!

Let me know if you have any other questions. Send me a FB post or message though, since I'm heading out in a little while

Re: fondue

  • that sounds soooo yummy!!
  • awesome, thanks!
  • That's about what we do too.  It's soo easy and soo yummy.  If anyone is looking for another idea, we like to do some butter and garlic and then add a bit of beer and then the cheddar.  It's so good with baguettes, green apples and broccoli (cauliflower works too if you like that).
