Thoughts on gDiapers?

Re: Thoughts on gDiapers?

  • I got some about a month ago- we have been using mostly prefolds with Thirsties covers, with a few BumGenius pockets and a few fitteds and an all-in-one.  I've used them with their flushable/compostable/disposable inserts and trifolded prefolds, but not their cloth inserts.

I don't love them overall.  Every time Lee has pooped in one, regardless of the stuffing, it's gotten on at least the inner liner, and more often than not, on the shell too. It's harder for me to flush the insert than it is to toss a cloth into the wet bag, and I think that they're not a lot easier to get on than a prefold and cover.

I like that the waist is so stretchy, and that with the flushable insert they are trimmer. They seem plenty absorbent, but I change DS pretty frequently and he's not a heavy sleep wetter. The inserts are smaller than cloth which is nice for diaper bags, and if you're not comfortable with carrying around poop, they'd be ideal for outings.

To sum it up, for me gDiapers are ok, and I'm glad to have tried them and have a few in my stash, but I like my other options better in almost all respects.  Cloth, for me, is easier, cheaper, and more effective.

  • I really liked the concept of them, but i think there are other similar options out there that are the same concept that work better and are cheaper.

The disposible/flushable inserts are pricey - I think it works out to .42 cents per insert or something like that.

I'm planning to use bambino mios and their flushable/disposible inserts are 100 for $6 - much less money.  If I recall right, the G diaper inserts were like 40 for $24.99 or something like that or maybe it was 60 for $24.99.  Either way, they were pricey.

you could always try a few and see what you think.  Babies R Us near me had some on clearance or you could check Craigs list or other online places to see if you could get a used set to try.

I've heard many folks complain about leaking with them though like above poster mentioned...
