Hey, we're going into CNY in a few weeks for a consult. Who was your RE there? Our appt. is with Dr. Grossman. Just wondering if you knew him and what you thought. TIA!

Re: **MarcyIam**

  • We used both Dr. Kiltz and Dr. Grossman there.  Dr. Kiltz for our WTF appt - he just happened to have been in town and Dr. Grossman did the actual ER and ET.  Didn't talk much with Dr. Grossman outside of the ER/ET (mostly deal with the nurses), but we really liked him.  It was a while ago now, but if I remember correctly, he had a good sense of humor and was easy to talk to.

For example, when I asked how my embies looked (I always have fragmentation, so never that great looking) he said, "Well, let's just say they won't be winning any beauty pageants!"  And then went on to say he's seen worse turn into babies, and he was right!

So, not sure what style you're looking for or if he'd be different in a consult vs. ER/ET day, but I so highly recommend CNY.  Their entire staff is just awesome and just so caring.  They answered every question/concern I had, even if it was trivial.  And when I questioned my protocol, they listened to me and even made some changes.  Not sure if it was those changes that resulted in my BFP, but I like to think they were.  ;-)

On a related note, Dr. Kiltz, went out of his way during our WTF consultant to make sure we could afford list last round.  Which turned out to be such a blessing since that was the cycle that led to Ryan.   Actually, the first 2 cycles they approved us for grant money, so that helped, too.  So if you come down to the point where you run out of insurance and end up OOP, it can't hurt to ask - you never know!

I wish you the best of luck and really hope your next cycle is the sticky one!

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

  • thank you so much! Making the switch would be so hard because I actually LIKE Horvath even though I had some issues at AIVF this last time. And, for all intents and purposes they got me KU the first time.

But I just really want to be more involved in my own care and have the ability to ask questions and be listened to. I've heard that CNY is very much like this over and over again. And I hear that their bedside manner is better there too.

I can't wait for my consult. I'll PM you and let you know what I thought of Grossman after the visit :)

    Thanks for everything!

  • Good luck to you and can't wait to hear how it goes!
