San Diego Help

DH and I are traveling to San Diego (from WI) in early September.  I have a conference for work and he is coming with me.  We will be staying at the Manchester Grand Hyatt for a week.  Does anyone have suggestions of things to do, restaurants close by, etc?  Or anything else we should not miss or need to know about San Diego?

I saw a couple similar posts below, but am looking for something a little bit different, so thanks for taking the time to answer :)

Re: San Diego Help

  • You will be in downtown/gas lamp so there will be TON of things to do and see.  How long will you be staying?  Will you be renting a car?  Downtown is just a fun place to explore in and of itself.  If you will be here a few days, I would suggest going to Balboa Park and the La Jolla area because that is another really neat place just to walk around.  Have fun while you are here!
  • Like pp said you are downtown in the Gaslamp so there is a ton to do. the Midway is right there and I have heard that is pretty cool to see.  It is a retired air craft carrier and they have turned it into a museum.  You are also right next to Seaport Village which has some fun little shops and is pretty to walk around.  You can also take the water ferry over to Coronado and walk around there.  My DH and I love to rent bikes and take them on the ferry over to Coranado.  Then you can bike around the island and see all the neat houses, the hotel Del, and the beaches.  It is a nice way to see it.
