Our dishwasher has been leaving a terrible film on the dishes the last month or so. It has gotten so bad that we quit using the dishwasher. Some dishes had so much residue and big streaks of detergent that I couldn't scrub it off by hand
We have tried running the dishwasher empty with vinegar, vinegar in the rinse cup, Method tabs, cascade tabs, electrosol power ball tabs, mrs. meyers, and on and on.
DH bought some Lemi Shine. I tried it today and it is fantastic! It is the only thing that has worked to get the gross film off the dishes. I put some lemi shine in the detergent cup along with 1/2 tab of method.
It is marketed as eco-friendly, but haven't been able to find anything on the web as to whether it is REALLY eco friendly or not. It is phosphate free. Have any of you heard of or used this? Is it a good EF product or not?
Re: S/O dishwashing detergent - Lemi shine?
my dishwasher hated the method tabs- we had film and grit all over the dishes with it.
i've switched to 7th Gen liquid detergent, and haven't had any problems since. Unfortunately, it does have SLS in it, so i'm still on the hunt for a liquid without it, but this works well in the meantime.
That is what happened when we used the method tabs alone. They seem to be okay with the lemi shine added. Does the powdered 7th gen detergent have SLS?
i don't know about the powder, i'm reluctant to try a powder, because it seems the method tabs were basically stuck together powder- and that didn't work.
I didn't realize there was SLS in the 7th gen liquid until after i bought it though.
I use Lemi-Shine and am actually posting about it on the blog tomorrow (giveaway to join it!)
I love it and so I wrote them and they were thrilled to join in.
As far as I am aware (from their site and the packaging), it's all citrus fruit oils and acids.
