Anyone do that here? What if we don't do it? I am talking about adding it to already established yards. It sounds expensive if you pay someone, and a lot of work if you do it yourself. I just cannot see this being a priority of ours...to do every other year.
Thoughts? Experiences?
Re: Adding topsoil to yard?
My parents have done it yearly to their new house- it was pretty cheap- like $300 or something... and I believe they got a rebate from SAWS. (The $300 was probably delivery only... then my dad spread it around, I think.)?
I don't know details but they (and all their neighbors) wouldn't have done it if they didn't think it was worthwhile. I would look into it, especially if you live in Stone Oak.??
We had our builder do it at our 1 year warranty meeting because we thought parts of the front yard were looking lumpy (which was their fault!). It made a huge difference and now it's green and grows nicely. DH is going to do it in the backyard in the spring.
It's probably not something you need to worry about... you don't live in an super rocky area (like Stone Oak) and your yard is very established.
I wish I knew more details about it. I can ask my parents... they never did it to the house I grew up in; it wasn't necessary. But they do it to their new house every year and have for the past 3 yrs they have lived there... and SAWS does offer a rebate for it. I guess it's more important if you have a new build with rocky soil. ?Something about drainage...
all though, I say all that and a house about 7 houses away from us just added top soil to their yard. That house has to be at least 20 yrs old... and I thought it was something done more in the spring (my parents do it in March.)
Sorry, not much help I know!?
