Re: Winter Olympics Poll
1. Did you watch the Opening Ceremonies? Most of it
2. Fav part of Opening/least favorite part? I love the parade of countries and especially love seeing the countries that only send one or two athletes--how dedicated those athletes must be. Least favorite of this opening ceremony was the uber-cheesy song Bryan Adams and Nelly Furtado sung. I used to LOVE Bryan Adams and I don't mind Nelly but ICK. It was just TERRIBLE.
3. Favorite Winter Olympic sport to watch? Olympic Hockey is awesome, but I also love skiing and the Bobsled. I amazed myself by really getting into the biathalon yesterday.
4. Winter sport you wished you could do OR can do? I wish I could skate/play as well as the olympic hockey players. It is REALLY hard to do, but they make it look so easy! I think speed skating would be my sport though. I'm built like them.
5. Favorite Winter olympic memory? I'm going to date myself--in my 3rd grade class, when we watched the "battle of the Brians" in ice skating during the 1988 Calgary games. Our teacher knew it was on too late for most of us to watch it so she taped it and brought it in for us. I don't really remember any of the actual skating--i just thought it was cool to watch ice skating instead of learning long division.
6. After watching the Olympics, do you have an urge to visit the areas involved? Well, after seeing the Visit BC commercials they've been airing during the Olympics, I think it'd be cool to visit there. But yeah, my list of "go to" places is pretty diverse, so eventually there are going to be some cross over (like yeah, I want to go to Greece, but I've always wanted to go, not just because of the Olympics). I did go to Lake Placid one summer, but definitely NOT because it was a former Olympic site. It was pretty cool, though--much better than I thought it would be.
1. Did you watch the Opening Ceremonies? Yes
2. Fav part of Opening/least favorite part? I liked the kd lang song as well as the part where the ice broke apart and the whales. I also really like the torch/cauldron design, I feel bad that part did not work right.
3. Favorite Winter Olympic sport to watch? I like bobsled, luge and various skiing events. I will also watch some figure skating and speed skating. I guess what I am saying is I do not really have a favorite.
4. Winter sport you wished you could do OR can do? I want to try curling
5. Favorite Winter olympic memory? I don't think I have one.
6. After watching the Olympics, do you have an urge to visit the areas involved? Sometimes. Vancouver seems like it would be a nice place to visit.
I don't recall watching that in school, but I definitely remember that.
1. Did you watch the Opening Ceremonies? Yes!
2. Fav part of Opening/least favorite part? The crazy fiddlers/the look on Wayne's face when his pylon didn't rise
3. Favorite Winter Olympic sport to watch? Any of them - I dork out on Olympics and spend lots of hours watching
4. Winter sport you wished you could do OR can do? Would love to be able to ski jump but my dislike of heights and lack of coordination and hatred of the cold make it improbable
5. Favorite Winter olympic memory? Seeing the torch run for the Lake Placid games
6. After watching the Olympics, do you have an urge to visit the areas involved? Not really but I've always loved Vancouver

3. Favorite Winter Olympic sport to watch? Moguls, figure skating, ski jump
4. Winter sport you wished you could do OR can do? Moguls or snowboarding
5. Favorite Winter olympic memory? The Tonya Harding / Nancy Kerrigan drama stands out in my mind. The old nun teaching my global history class that year always started class talking about the latest news coming from the Olympics, and she'd always slam Tonya. For example, I remember her saying, "That Tonya Harding with the broken shoe lace bit, what a whiner! Tsk, Tsk."
6. After watching the Olympics, do you have an urge to visit the areas involved? I've been to Vancouver and other a few other areas of B.C. and loved it! I would definitely go back!

2. Fav part of Opening/least favorite part? I really enjoyed almost all of it. I love the song "Halleluia" but I didn't think that k.d. lang's rendition was great. I also think that the Bryan Adams/Nelly Fertado song was a little cheesy. I think my favorite part was the part of the theatrical performance where the ice broke up into the ice floes.
3. Favorite Winter Olympic sport to watch? If I have to pick one, figure skating. I also enjoy skiing and speed skating.
