Maui Travel Help....Pretty Please

Hello Ladies.....Im a DC nestie and will be in your neck of woods soon.  I can not wait to leave a leftover 10 inches of snow to get to Hawaii on  Thursday...YEA!!!

I was wondering if some of you could help.  My mom and I are taking a mother/daughter trip and Maui was not in our plans, but we are thinking about going now for 2 days (the 24th-26th).

Can anyone recommend any good (clean) but budget friendly (preferably less than $100/night)  hotels or house rentals on Maui  ??  Or can you recommend any local vacation rental search sites?? I know that budget is tight, but it never hurts to try.   Ive tried VRBO but they all seemed to be booked and/or going against what their ads say.

Thanks for any and all help.  Cant wait to visit your lovely home(s).

  • I don't have any recommendations, sorry (hopefully someone else will!), but have you tried tripadvisor? I always find them super useful for finding good places to stay!
  • I was going to suggest VRBO, but it looks like you're having problems w/ it. I've only had good experiences w. them.

  • We have friends taking a trip to Maui that weekend and for some reason lots of places were either all booked up or super expensive. Even the little b&b they finally found is costing them about $200/night.

Whenever we take an interisland trip, we usually find the best deals when we book everything together as a package (air, hotel, & car). We book either through the Hawaiian Airlines website or Expedia. The HA site usually has better deals than Expedia but it would be worth it to check both. The last time we went to Maui, we were able to find a condo in the Kahana/Kaanapali area for about $100/night. It was around this same time last year too. =) Lots of great whalewatching! Good luck and I hope you're able to find something within your budget!

  • I'd check Kayak.com too, if you haven't already. It usually compares lots of places so it gives you an idea of what you can get. I think it's peak season now though, so it may explain all that places you've looked are more expensive than usual? Good luck!
